I question because I do not believe that the religion in itself is restricting, but the people involved in them restrict. What are your unbiased thoughts?

How can I can I preach against other religions if I know nothing about them. I make sure to find out as much as I can. I'm Catholic but I've read up on Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, and many more. I found that many of these religions have some very amiable qualities. You have to look for the good as well as the bad. And there is a lot of good in the world.

Um...no.

For Christians, I challenge you to read A Mind For God by James Emery White which deals specifically with this topic.

I am about to graduate from Bible College, and I am considering taking some science classes and Vanderbilt University so I can learn more about atheistic thought and evolution.

Independent investigation of reality is a fundamental teaching of the Baha'i Faith.

The first is the independent investigation of truth; for blind imitation of the past will stunt the mind. But once every soul inquireth into truth, society will be freed from the darkness of continually repeating the past.

The first principle Bahá'u'lláh urged was the independent investigation of truth. "Each individual," he said, "is following the faith of his ancestors who themselves are lost in the maze of tradition. Reality is steeped in dogmas and doctrines. If each investigate for himself, he will find that Reality is one; does not admit of multiplicity; is not divisible. All will find the same foundation and all will be at peace."

If we understand religion as 'knowledge' - then religion should be improved over time & fullfil the needs of its followers

Same thing applicable to science & technology ! (but in this case, one has No choice)
