Ok so this God was a feathered serpent. Satan was a serpent in the garden of Eden. Satan was also a fallen angel. (wings) This God had those who believed in him do some pretty nasty things to each other. Just a thought...

When churches endorse a certain candidate, or funnel money to certain parties, shouldn't they then lose their tax-exempt status?

Isn't the whole idea between tax-exempt status because churches are non-profit organizations, who are in business to help others...which is what God commanded...feed the hungry, care for the poor, orphans and widows...

However, churches are now becoming political...and spending large portioins of their offerings on operating expenses, and politics...thereby, making them corporations.

Maybe churches should only receive tax-exempt status on that portion of their funds that are used to help the less fortunate...the remaining funds should be taxed like all other companies?

Your thoughts?

I noticed that many people are upset about being reported all the time. i saw many complaints posted and some people even doing what i did and throwing their hands up in the air and leaving. i saw deke try to rally up the atheists to start reporting every violation they see.

well i'm back, because i don't want my fellow pagans, atheists, muslims, hindus, non fundy christians and everyone else, standing against the crazy fundies who make this forum and world a scary and potentially violent place.

thanks for all your kind words when i left. i wasn't sure if i was coming back, and because of the nice things you said, i'm back!

and to ask a question, so i don't get reported.......

if people evovled from monkeys, why are there still monkeys???

Does it matter how a person interprets the bible whether they interpret everything literally or even if they interpret the bible metaphorically and symbolically? Does it matter if the person is a Fundamental/ Conservative Christian or a Liberal Christian? Does a person have to be a Fundamental/Conservative Protestant or Liberal Protestant or Catholic? Does it matter what denomination a person is?

The bible is a book that gives information, and that information in this case is that Jesus was a son that God sent (John 3:16) but how many sons has God? millions, because all angels are sons of God according to Job 1:6, 2:1 and existed before humans (Job 38:4-7).
The bible said that Jesus is the firstson of God (Colossians 1:15-17) so he is the first of that sons, that is why you see in Rev. 12:7 that Jesus (michael) is the chief of the angels and that is why the book of Revelation 10:1 describe Jesus as a powerful angel, and also the bible says his voice is the voice of archangel (1 Thessal.4:16), the bible call Jesus the angel of covenant in Malachi 3:1-3.

Notice how the bible in Isaiah 9:6 said that he is a prince of peace a mighty god and if you read the book of Daniel 12:1 explain that Michael the great prince will bring a great tribulation and people will be rise from dead and the only that can do that is Jesus.
why if that information is in your bible you don´t believe

Have you studied the scriptures as they relate to your beliefs?

Have you prayed to God for guidance in your beliefs?

When studying and praying, have you put away preconceived notions and ideas, and opened your heart and mind to God's direction?

Or do you simply, blindly follow the rhetoric and dogma taught to you by your denomination's leaders?

Are all of your convictions the same as those of your denomination?

Are you the same enomination/religion as your parents?

I've read a lot on R&S that suggests religious people feel they know who they answer to, so they are moral, but atheists only answer to themselves, so they are destructive hedonists. I don't see this, when I look around. So all you atheists living good, productive lives--will you share what guides you?

Personally, I feel like humans have an instinctual moral code. We're a social species (we live in groups, we need each other) so there's an automatic distaste for actions that would cause chaos in the community and threaten our survival. On a gut level, I believe an atheist believes stealing is wrong the same way a religious person believes stealing is wrong.

We only get into conflict about whether or not sex is dirty before marriage or whether gays should be left in peace--secularists see these as victimless crimes and have no objection. (I'm clearly a champion of moral relativism...a jaywalker is just not as bad as a murderer, no way.)

If he can't sin, then I guess that means that there are some things that he can't do. That throws out omnipotent/all-powerful, unless your definition of omnipotent and all powerful does not include being able to do all things.

If god is able to do all things, what do you think of the people who said he couldn't, such as in this question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AoOtmoOWQahIcHbKoR6rRRLsy6IX?qid=20070608091420AAVeFi6

U.S. Bible-based museum drop 'Adam' video after actor's risque past revealed

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A man who plays Adam in a video aired at a Bible-based creationist museum in Kentucky has led a different life outside the Garden of Eden, flaunting his sexual exploits online and modelling for a clothing line that promotes free love.

After learning about his activities Thursday, the Creation Museum pulled the 40-second video in which he appears.

"We are currently investigating the veracity of these serious claims of his participation in projects that don't align with the biblical standards and moral code upon which the ministry was founded," Answers for Genesis spokesman Mark Looy said in a written statement.

I am not talking about your money, so don't get worried. What I am talking about is suppose you went to worship God and be used by Him.Things like:
1.Pray for the message and the message giver.
2.Lend a word of encouragement to a hypocrite.
3.Offer a little help to a single parent (can I watch your little one sometime just to give you some time to your self?)
4.Asked someone if they are lonely and would they like a visit.
5.Invite someone who doesn't get shown much attention to come over for dinner and a visit.
6.Go there with a prayer that says use me Lord however you want to,and please don't allow satan to cause me to be offended.

A previous poster calls for action against Christians.

If there were a worldwide edict that all Christians must be executed or be put into concentration camps similar to the holocaust, would you hide one in your home to save his life? This would put your family at risk of similar punishment. What is your stand on this?

I have countless times in here seen people say kids are brainwashed from birth to be Christians. That they have no ability to break free from it.
That they can not form their own opinions as adults because they were brainwashed...BUT then in the next question/answer
you hear about all these Christians that have found the "truth" and are now Atheists.
How does that work?
