This is a serious innocent question. I am not trying to make anyone mad; I really am curious though. If atheists don't believe in a Creator or any higher power, why do some, emphasis some, spend so much time and energy fighting against those who do believe in a higher power? If these atheists knew without a doubt that there was no Creator, why bother fighting about it? What do they gain?

When was the last time you put your religion in practice? I don't mean attending a religious service or following liturgy, but concrete actions that extol your religion's highest principles?

Hey. Let me get you caught up.

I work in a dealership and my coworker (who I dont really enjoy) caught a trojan virus on his computer. Along with about 38 other viruses and close to 300 adware and spyware. My boss asked me to clean it up and asked me privately if it was porn. I said i didnt know. Well today I was finishing cleaning it up and of course... I found adult friend finders and the like. Now this not only makes me really uncomfortable at my job, being a teenage and my co-worker being in his late 40's/50's but I also don't know how to approach my boss with this information.

How would you handle it and what should I do to make sure Im not in any danger. Usually its just me and him at the workplace. Thanks in advance for your help.

A rerun, a repeat from the darkness of the middle of last night, which I share with you chaps again. Not many folks are up and at his or her work, in my case playwriting, as early as I am. I posted here:

Hey, maybe it's like being straight or gay--you're born that way.

“An American molecular geneticist has concluded after comparing more than 2,000 DNA samples that a person's capacity to believe in God is linked to brain chemicals. … Studies on twins showed that those with this gene, a vesicular monoamine transporter that regulates the flow of mood-altering chemicals in the brain, were more likely to develop a spiritual belief. “

The source was "The God Gene: How Faith Is Hard-Wired Into Our Genes," by Dean Hamer, reported in The Washington Times, a conservative daily in D.C.

I was unclear. It is a book by Mr. Hamer, which The Washington Times was writing about.

Deuteronomy 14:3-20 has the definition:

Do not eat any detestable thing.

These are the animals you may eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat, the deer, the gazelle, the roe deer, the wild goat, the ibex, the antelope and the mountain sheep. You may eat any animal that has a split hoof divided in two and that chews the cud.
However, of those that chew the cud or that have a split hoof completely divided you may not eat the camel, the rabbit or the coney. Although they chew the cud, they do not have a split hoof; they are ceremonially unclean for you. The pig is also unclean; although it has a split hoof, it does not chew the cud. You are not to eat their meat or touch their carcasses.

Of all the creatures living in the water, you may eat any that has fins and scales. But anything that does not have fins and scales you may not eat; for you it is unclean.

I am told that I am being cruel...

However, everyone is quick to point out other's perceived sins, like that of homosexuality.

Why the double standard?

Why is it o.k. to pick one sin and talk about a literal interpretation of the Bible as it relates to that sin...but, not talk about the literal interpretation of the Bible as it relates to others?

Could it be...you do not want to examine your own life...but, point fingers at others?

I am not a literalist so I do not believe the divorced, gluttons or bankrupt people will go to hell if they believe in God...

But, a literal interpretation of the Bible does say they will go to hell if they do not turn from their ways...so divorced, would have to be celibate...bankrupt, would have to pay back the money, and gluttons would have to lose weight and get healthy.

Why do you interpret the Bible literally as it relates to homosexuality, but make excuses for these other sins?

Why am I wrong to bring up these perceived sins

In Old Age?
Because I am in nursing, I see many older people ignored by there grown children, but one thing I do notice is that Hispanic people seem to be alot more attentive and take care of there parents than many American people, they will not put there parents in nursing homes but bring them home to care for them.
Would you put your parent in a nursing home or would you care for them when it gets to that point? and does your faith, culture or morals guide your thoughts on this?

How can the religious folks out there seriously beleive that the bible is a book of historical fact
I beleive it is nothing more than a work of blind faith.
My following examples are why i think it's a load of nonsense, and i'd like you to challenge them with credible reasons.

Genesis 1 & 2 - In the first chapter the Bible states that Adam and Eve were created together....
In the second it says that God created Adam first, then once he'd was bored naming the animals etc.. he said he was lonely and so God created Eve from one of Adams ribs.
Now some of you will say this is just 2 versions of one event, which is fine but u cant then expect me to take the bible literally can you?

Genesis 6 : 11-13 - Noahs Ark - You really expect me to beleive he had 2 of every animal on board? there are over 10 billion species on earth!!! And they all just happened to be in the right place at the right time did they? Then get didstributed perfectly?

I am a Hindu and don't really know much about other religions. My question is is there any difference between Catholics and Christians? Or is it the same with two different names?

If there is some difference what is it? And what does Protestant mean?

For me it's reading "Let US create man in OUR image" and then listening to Christians claim that the Hebrew word ELOHIM somehow has a different meaning than the Mesopotamian usage of the same word.

It means a pantheon of GODS, not a singular god, and not some 'royal WE' bullshit, as if God thinks he's so great he refers to himself in the plural.

The polytheism of the first creation account is embedded throughout the text, translated or not.

But, I digress.

What are your favorites?
