Many years ago, I was raising two sons by myself...and money was soooo tight...I couldn't even afford to buy a box of Popsicles for my children...anyhow, someone, left 2 large boxes of groceries on my doorstep and an envelope with $50.00 inside...and I Never found out who the wonderful person was...I will never forget this, this is truly a wonderful person...

People have done many wonderful things for me. But the one I'd like to mention is the other day when I was feeling really down, Markyyy posted a question asking for people to say something nice about me. A bunch of people answered with some of the kindest, most wonderful things I could imagine. I had no idea people felt such nice feelings about me. I was really uplifted. The question got deleted, probably for "chatting" or whatever, but I got to see it, and I'm so glad I did!

Hard Question, but I will say as someone who believes in Traditional Values and is a christian I made a great friend at work she is the most kind, generous loving individua,l after a year I found out she was a Lesbian and that did change my views on how I see homosexuals even though I still believe it's wrong she is one of my best friends and she aslo accepts me and my ultra conservative views.

Besides of course every wonderful thing that my beautiful girlfriend does for me, including bringing herself and her son into my life, I would have to say that one of the nicest things that was ever done for me... was by my Grandmothers. In my life, I had made mistakes. There were people in my family that would have very much rather just turned their backs to me and try to forget about me, etc.. However, both my Grandmothers (one from each side of course) were always there for me. When I was stuck or problems arose, they would be there, welcome me, and basically tell the other relatives to 'stick it'.. (not using those words of course).
Both my Grandmothers are gone now.. But they will never be forgotten.. These were two of the most generous, wonderful people I ever knew.

there are quite a few, but here is a recent one. the last surgery i had , it wasnt known if i would live through it. and the day before a nurse was having a bad day and wasnt very nice and was kind of rough. after her shift ended the next day, she stayed over on her time to come and see me and apologize , along with talking and wishing me well. and she made a point of stopping by to say hi until i could go home.

i live in houston, so in 2005 after katrina,
we were part of the mass exodus that came out of houston to evacuate for Rita.
we only had 1/2 a tank of gas due to rationing, and we made it as far as Wharton county.
(about an hour outside the city)
we were going to cyphon gas from my in-law's car to ours, but realized at that point that Saturns are cyphon proof.
when we were trying to figure out what to do, a man in a big chevy truck pulled up behind us.
he said that if we needed gas, he had a gas tank in his barn.
and if we liked, we could follow him 4 miles across town to get it. well, my husband and i were desparate and running on fumes, so we decided to follow him.
Turns out we went to the Wharton County maintence barn, and the man that pulled up behind us was the Wharton County Commissioner.
Those were trying times for all of us, but I do not know what we would have done had he not come to save us basically.
That was the nicest act of random kindness i have ever witnessed, and i tell that story every time i get a chance.

Recently, I gave my neighbors a Gasoline Gift Card. They run two vehicles and really do not have a lot of extra money. But they do have time and sometimes mow the grass in the front of my house.
Well, today, my neighbor came to visit. He brought me a "thank you" card of sorts with a wonderful hand-written note. It was quite lovely. These are the neighbors that are trying to sell their house as they wish to relocate to Florida. I shall miss my good neighbors when they move.
Although it was a small gesture, it means a great deal to me that we are such good friends and neighbors. It speaks to me about how to really "love thy neighbor".

When I was about 17, I got upset about something and ran out of the house. It was raining semi-hard, so I actually ran about 3 blocks to get to a phone booth. Then, I just locked myself up in it and cried.
After a few minutes, I heard a knock and looked up. I thought it was going to be someone who needed to use the phone, but it was a girl that I went to school with that had moved in next door to me. I wasn't ever really too nice to her, but she had seen me leave my house upset, followed me for three blocks in the rain and brought me some peanut butter cookies!
She had made the cookies herself, and some of them were even a little burnt, so in this case it was definitely the thought that counted. This happened over 10 years ago, and it's one of my favorite memories, ever. I felt like no one in the world cared about me until she showed up with those burnt cookies.

They loved me and made me feel safe... They made me happy, they made me smile, and they truly cared about me. I think that's the best gift and the nicest thing that someone could do for you... Loving me no matter what I did... That was the nicest thing that anyone has ever done for me.
