Peace and Love

Then I fail to see how. It says to kill Pagans. That is violent to me, even if it is only defensively. In the Tahnak, Bible, and Apocrypha, Christians and Jews are ordered not to kill at all. Even soldiers who do their job are in sin. The only time violence is acceptable is when God Himself orders it or commits it. This theme is of paticular importance in the Christian text. I see very little "love theology" in the Quran. Surah 9 (The entire chapter) is essentially offering a bypass to peace. And it can be interpreted as a clear license to kill. Muslims, please help me contend with this.

I hate going to hairdressers who constantly try to make conversation with me. I'm there to get my hair cut, not to make small talk. Why do hairdressers always want to know about their customers. Obviously I know it is to make the customer feel more comfortable, and thus more likely to return. But not all customers want to talk, and thus I would like to know how hairdressers feel when their customers do not want to talk. I am quite shy and find it difficult to maintain converstaions. Although I am perfectly happy to sit in silence whilst having my hair cut, I feel uncomfortable when hairdressers constantly try to make converstaion with me. If I feel that they are not uncomfortable then I am fine. I think men are lucky when they go to the hairdressers/barber because I think with men there is no pressure for the barber or customer to make small talk. They can go in there have a hair cut and not expect to interrogated about their life!!

My favorite story in the Bible is about the adulterous woman brought before Jesus. It is my favorite since, to me, it illustrates two important concepts about God's nature: God's unending capacity to love and forgive and that judgment is God's domain, not mine.
If you recall the story, the church elders stated, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of committing adultery. Now in the law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what say you?"

Jesus knew the scriptures of which they spoke. It stated: "If a man commits adultery with the wife of his neighbor, both the adulterer and the adulteress shall be put to death."

To the surprise of all, Jesus blatantly violates the scripture by stating, "Let anyone among you who is without sin, cast the first stone." One by one they left, beginning with the Elders. Jesus asks of the adulterer, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?" And Jesus says, "Neither do I condemn you."

How powerful and beautiful is this statement.

I have known this guy for 9 years & he has always made it known to his family, friends, etc. that he is n love with me & wants 2 marry me. Up until that point we have never been intimate or anything. It has been strictly friendship. He never dealt with any other women and had abstained from sex. About a year ago I moved 2 minutes from him and we got closer & we started dating. However the relationship was strange to me. He lived with his family but he never wanted to spend time with me alone. He never wanted to stay the night at my apartment. I always had to pack my clothes up on the weekend and stay with him and his family. We had very little sex but during the course of our intimacy I got pregnant. I thought his behavior was because of his culture "Hispanic" (real family oriented) or because he had an extremely small package or he was a chronic mama's boy. Now I have a 2 month son and I am trying to figure out what's his deal? Is he trying to suppress some homosexual desires?

I think any holiday that celebrates manhood is bad, because we as women are then forced to set aside all of our strengths and treat our men like kings. I can see celebrating Mother's Day, because women should always be celebrated and treated with respect, unlike men. So, therefore, should Father's Day be banned?

1-'Gehenna' or 'The valley of the son of Hinnom' which is what the Greek word means, was the rubbish tip outside of Jerusalem in the time of Jesus which was also used to burn the bodies of criminals who had suffered capital punishment. Most of the occurrences of the word 'hell' in the New Testament refer to this 'place of burning' outside of Jerusalem.
2-If we can accept the words quoted from Psalm 16 which prophetically teach that Jesus went to 'sheol' (ie. the grave) when He died, then to be consistent with Bible teaching, we must accept that Peter meant the grave as well when He said that Jesus went to hades when he quotes Psalm 16 in Acts 2:27. Any other explanation would have Old Testament teaching contradicting the New Testament. The fact that the New Testament was written in Greek does not mean that we have to use Greek mythology to interpret Scripture. Today we use words like "lunatic", but this does not mean that we accept that somebody's mental health depends on the phases
