It depends on your age and outlook, I think.
I'm seventeen, so for me, being told I look older than I am is a compliment - it means I look 'grown-up', if you like, and old enough to get into clubs and pubs!
However, I think a lot of older people, especially middle-aged women, would take it to great offence, as a youthful appearance is highly prized in western society. That said, I know that once someone said it to my mum, and she was proud - she said she had wrinkles because she smiled, her hands were rough because she had laboured, and the ageing of her body was a sign that she had lived, rather than being one of those women who just sits and applies face masks and moisturisers all day!

hi, i dont think its either. The answer is in how you receive the statement....do you think its good that you look more mature than your age? or vice versa? if the comment makes you feel good then great if not theres your answer...however if you want to go deeper into it then you can look into the intention of the person who made the statement...do they like you? or not?
honestly if someone said that to me (whether it was meant as a compliment or not)i would take it in the most positive way.
who cares what others think?! if someone wants you to feel bad from their statement are you going to please them by feeling bad? ofcourse not....i think the best way is to take it all as a compliment....it makes you the stronger person :)

Now I am still young, that's a compliment. But when I am in my middle age... that would be an insult.

That will depend on who is giving the comment. If it is someone you don't know and older than you, it is a compliment. If it is your enemy or someone younger than you, it is the other way around. If it came from someone your age, observe their smile and their eyes. There you will know your answer.

depends on who said it. I'm one of the people who always gets 'oh, you look older than your age' thing and i got used to it. When I get it from teachers, close family members and close true friends, i know it's not an insult, more like reffering to my hobby of reading and my lack of giggling over guys with blushing cheeks. But it's always the distant aunts who keeps missing my age by guessing my age by an extra 3-4 years that get on my nerves.they asked every year!

frequently the conventional woman ought to take it as an insult, for the reason that a virgin is someone who did no longer have sex and... they merely suggested you probably did not look as if one -_-" notwithstanding, i really do not care. *i'm a virgin* it ought to easily be that you look really mature (to the point the position if in case you've had sex in the previous), or are promiscuous (yeah it truly is a threat), or you merely gown somewhat slutty or something. you could change that. or perchance the guy merely... like, i do not understand, would not even understand what the hell a virgin is =P

It is a compliment if you are humble; it is an insult if you are arrogant.
