Could purity of heart and mind be the key to the next step in human development? What does purity mean and is there any power in it?

It seems that you cannot please people when it comes to Christmas. I work in a small retail store that sells fine jewelry and gifts as well as accessories. Lately we have been getting Christmas returns. The store policy is exchanges only. It just seems that people cannot be pleased with the gifts they receive. I could understand if they got clothes that didn't fit but be happy with your gift. If I get something I don't like I politely smile and say thank you. I would never think of saying "It's not me, can I have the receipt". Some people really go out of their way to try make people happy and can't. I am not a religious person but Christmas has just turned ito this commercial fiasco where people run around trying to please people with expensive gifts that they end up hating anyway.

And I'm not talking about,"Yes, the Bible." I mean, have you ever read a book that has completely changed the way you think or view the world?

A poster name iblis wrtoe this in response to a question:
"Clearly you don't know your history to well.Christians were killing people during the Crusades and then Inquisitions!"

Really what he should say is that humans have been fighting wars since the beginning of time, but that doesn't tell us who is right and who is wrong in each case.It is possible that they killed people and were right, why cannot he accept this possible reality?
This writer only adopts and rejects things as it is convenient for him not according to some honorable rule..
The fact that wars were fought and then just taking note of them does not tell us who was right and wrong in those wars. One cannot simply state see people fought and people died here, that doesnt tell us anything, without investigating the causes of war and reasons why. That is the same as not having a fair trial, they are just condemned , no trial , no jury, no defense allowed. This guy just condemns them.

Why wont people Live and Let live? Everyone has different types of humour - why dont we accept this? Yet these are the people that complain why the world is in the state it is in...

I always smile - no matter who you are. I laugh at jokes even if they are not funny because I dont like to offend. I like being me and being happy!

Those that live life too seriously are the ones with issues...

I mean, I can understand how it wouldn't work as a way of life, but, if someone consistently and purposely hurts you, undermines you, lies about you? Spreads false rumors? Damages your property? Takes pleasure in causing you trouble? I mean, is there EVER a situation where a little retribution is fitting?

George W. Bush, in an airport lobby, noticed a man in a long flowing white robe with a long flowing white beard and flowing white hair. The man had a staff in one hand and some stone tablets under the other arm.

George W. approached the man and inquired, "Aren't you Moses?" The man ignored George W. and stared at the ceiling. George W. positioned himself more directly in the man's view and asked again, "Aren't you Moses?"

The man continued to peruse the ceiling. George W. tugged at the man's sleeve and asked once again, "Aren't you Moses?" The man finally responded in an irritated voice, "Yes I am".

George W. asked him why he was so unfriendly and Moses replied, "The last time I spoke to a Bush I had to spend forty years in the desert."

is the goal of islam to really take over the world? sure, its peaceful TO MUSLIMS, and sure it brings peace IF EVERYONE IS MUSLIM. but what about the jizya tax that they must impose on non-muslims to make the feel "subdued"? and what about all those verses talking about killing infidels? why are there so many islamic terror organisations? how many christian, jewish, hindu, and buddhist terror organisations were there, and how many people belonged to them? al-qaida itself probably has more members than all of those non-muslims groups put together, including even the now non-existent IRA (they surrendured). sure christians and jews did things, but that wasnt what their religion taught. when a muslim says islam is peaceful, he/she probably doesnt know his/her own religion.

Is it "good" or "bad"? I think that sex is just something that should be saved for marriage and that you can't really enjoy it with fifty thousand diffrent people. Why can't we tell our children about sex? I mean, what's so bad about it?

The media has brainwashed us into thinking that sex is "bad".

I have a very close relative that has been accused at least 4 times of the same type of crime by 4 different people. None of his accusers have ever met each other, and each accusation happened in a different city, years apart.

I feel guilty for assuming that this relative must be guilty because he has never been convicted and found legally guilty. But it seems impossible for him to be innocent.

What do you think? Is it possible that he can be innocent with so many of the same type of accusations by people who have never met each other? Am I overreacting by assuming that he is guilty?
