If I was a good person and I gave you something really, really nice, a wonderful gift but then after I gave it to you I demanded you spend all your time thanking me for it for the rest of your years and I will not take the gift back less I d@mn you to hell, would this still be a kind gift, would I still be a good person? If I said that if you dont spend all your years thanking me for this gift that I will make sure you spend an eternity incased in fiery Brimstone, am I still a good person.

I believe in God but I have a hard time believing that the creator has the mindset depicted above even though this is how most religions portray the creator. God seems to be portrayed as a masterful being who will strike you down in vengence and have you burn in hell just because you didnt know of him or spend the life he gave you dedicated to worshipping him. While it is a wonderful gift God gave us, doesnt the conditions of this gift seem some what not nice, less than holy even?

Another post on here has me asking, Do people really hate the poor and underpriveledged, and why???? It's interesting because you can have someone who is well off, but cold emotionally and down right mean get more respect than a good hearted person who is struggling. Why is this??? Do people just like to crap on someone else?

I do good in basic conversation. it's pretty good and i can speak it close to fluently in basic conversation. I mean its not that basic i know quite a bit, since i studied 4 years. But , start going away from the basic and into subjects in which i have no experience and i don't understand nothing. Like i listened to some podcasts in iTunes in japanese and some of them i could understand, like when it was a nice girl speaking clearly and abut some fun thing, i could understand it, but then i turned to a BUSINESS related podcasts and i could not understand at all.

I know it's obvious that i wouldn't understand the business one. But so my question is, without going to japan or having Japan friends willing to talk to you in japanese, how do you get good?
I could listen to business podcasts, but that doesn't help cause i will never understand no matter how i try. They have too much vocab dependent on culture and i never live in japan so it's impossible to know.

Why do so many otherwise intelligent people support the racist policy of affirmative action, even to the point of quotas? Quotas, like those used in affirmative action programs, are a means of apportioning rewards in employment and academic admissions, not on merit, but on other criteria such as skin color.

Martin Luther King asked to be judged NOT on skin color, but upon "content of character" (i.e. merit) instead. Proponents of affirmative action have apparently discarded Dr. King's advice.

The Supreme Court has repeatedly made clear that quotas are illegal, but that doesn't stop some people from demanding them. Why is it so difficult for some so-called "civil rights activists" to fight racism, without resorting to racism themselves?

"What shall we do with...the Jews?...I advise that all their prayer books and Talmudic writings...are to be taken from them."

"What shall we do with...the Jews?...I advise that safe-conduct on the highways be abolished completely for the Jews."

"What shall we do with...the Jews? I advise that their rabbis be forbidden to teach on pain of loss of life and limb."

"What shall we do with...the Jews?...set fire to their synagogues or schools and bury and cover with dirt whatever will not burn, so that no man will ever again see a stone or cinder of them."

"What shall we do with...the Jews?...their homes also should be razed and destroyed."
All the above were Martin Luther

St. Augustine: “Judaism is a corruption. Indeed Judas is the image of the Jewish people. Their understanding of the Scriptures is carnal. They bear the guilt for the death of the saviour, for through their fathers they have killed the Christ.”

I saw this on the History channel, stating it was a big rumor, not proven or disproven. I also heard he used occult powers to do his evil. Is this true? Also, did that Himmler dude really find the "holy" grail? LOL.

In villages, we can find strong women working as stone breakers and sand diggers and carrying the stones and sand to their yard, while weak men work as kite makers. In cities, besides male lifters, we can also find female lifters. On the contrary, there are also men who are as *graceful* as female dancers.

...in light of 1 Corinthians 14:33 which says "For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints."

Why are there so many interpretations of the bible? It must not be very clear what is meant.

Believers accept things on faith and stop asking "why?" and "how?" questions. They accept answers about their faith and the universe relatively uncritically.

Atheists and agnostics remain dissatisfied and uncomforted with answers that are incomplete or that fail to hold up under the light of reason. They remain curious about the nature of reality and about the inner workings of everything from atoms to galaxies.

So, does the amount of curiosity a person embraces ultimately determine whether they will become a believer or a non-believer? What influences how much curiosity a person develops?

I was wondering if that was classified as racism at the scene when Sarah Jessica Parker said that no one would want their child to be gay, because as much as I am an advocate for gay rights, there is some sense in not wanting a kid to grow up the intolerance and hatred for the gays that there is in this country.

I guess that I am trying to understand if this would be considered a discriminating thought against the homosexual community.

How does this mentality help? You have already done it, you can't take it back. And how would any human being be able to predict every out come of an act before hand? IF you beleive that this quote should be used regularly as a way to respond to those in need, please explain why.

Whenever i see teens they always want to learn to play electric guitar. Also, in schools accoustic guitar doesn't seem to be a popular instrument cause bands don't use it. So mostly kids learn Piano, Violin, Flutes, other wind instruments and drums.

Is there a reason kids don't like to learn accoustic guitar and why schools also don't incorporate the instrument into their music programs?

It seems as though kids don't like to learn it cause it's NOT COOL, that's how they see it. They think it's an instrument for the old, and plus MTV and all those things they watch never include it.

I know many thingss are taken out of context in the bible but i would like to see what people thought about this one.
Luke 14:25-31
A large crowd was foillowing jesus. He turned and said to them,"If you want to be my deciple, you must hate everyone else by comparison.-your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters-yes even your own life. Otherwise you, cannot be my disciple. And if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot bee my disciple. But dont begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first caluclating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it? Otherwise, you might complete only the foundation, before running out of money, and then everyone will laugh at you. They would say, 'There's the personal who started that building and couldnt afford to finish it!'
