St. Augustine: “Judaism is a corruption. Indeed Judas is the image of the Jewish people. Their understanding of the Scriptures is carnal. They bear the guilt for the death of the saviour, for through their fathers they have killed the Christ.”

St. Gregory: “ Jews are slayers of the Lord, murderers of the prophets, enemies of God, haters of God, adversaries of grace, enemies of their fathers’ faith, advocates of the devil, brood of vipers, slanderers, scoffers, men of darkened minds, leaven of the Pharisees, congregation of demons, sinners, wicked men, stoners and haters of goodness.”

St. Jerome: “....serpents, haters of all men, their image is Judas ... their psalms and prayers are the braying of donkeys..”

St. John Chrysostom: “I know that many people hold a high regard for the Jews and consider their way of life worthy of respect at the present time... This is why I am hurrying to pull up this fatal notion by the roots ... A place where a whore stands on display is a whorehouse. What is more, the synagogue is not only a whorehouse and a theater; it is also a den of thieves and a haunt of wild animals ... not the cave of a wild animal merely, but of an unclean wild animal ... When animals are unfit for work, they are marked for slaughter, and this is the very thing which the Jews have experienced. By making themselves unfit for work, they have become ready for slaughter. This is why Christ said: “ask for my enemies, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them and slay them before me’ (Luke 19.27).”

They didn't??? Would Hitler have been able to do what he did without all the groundwork laid out for him. And yes Christians have been killing Jews, Homosexuals and CHRISTIANS for millennia. The Franciscan Monks were burned alive for the vow of poverty and the heresy it represented.

“The children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” (Matthew 8.12)

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets and stonest them that are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold your house is left unto you desolate.” (Matthew 23.37,38) Then answered all the people (Jews) and said, “His blood be on us and on our children” (Matthew 27:25). 1 “But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you to councils, and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten” (Mark 13.9)

“He that believeth not shall be damned” (Mark 16.16)

“Ye are of your father the devil and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar and the father of it. And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. Which of you convinceth me of sin? And I say the truth, why do you not believe me? He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God” (John 8.43-47)

“Stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so you do. Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which showed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers” (Acts 7.51-53)
Should I keep going?

All your sources are excellent quotations to support your question. But all the sources you cited are religious scholars of their day. They may have had mistaken opinions just as I suspect many of our religious scholars today have the wrong opinion.

I do not agree with everything my pastor says. For example, he is one who believes we are in the last days. I disagree. I also disagree with the opinions of the scholars you cited. (I assume these to be accurate quotations.)

To refute them I cite another source, the Bible.
>For God so loved the world.... This includes Jew and Gentile alike
> Am I my brother's keeper..... God spent the rest of the Bible answering that question
> Paul: First the Jew, then the gentile..... Whereever Paul went, he taught in the synagogue first
Jesus: Love one another as I have loved you

The people you cite may simply be too religious for their own good. This was the biggest problem Jesus faced in his ministry. It was the religious zealots and scholars of the day. Some would say these were the Jewish leaders. Jesus was cool with Nicodeamus because Nicodemus came seeking answers to difficult questions. But Jesus did have problems with those whose minds were closed.

When Adam and Eve ate the fruit from the tree of knowledge, they simply became too smart for their own good. It seems like this problem will always be with us.

Jesus told us to have the faith of a child. Keep it simple. I try to emulate Jesus and I am rarely successful. Hitler was as far from Jesus as one could get. His desire was for political power. He hated and distrusted the world. He was a murderer. Paul told us our struggle is with the principalities of darkness. Those principalities are still with us today. The darkness envelopes the closed minded like a shroud. Jesus is the light. Not a preacher or a political leader.

Hope this helps. Your's is a good question.

Good point and I know what your getting at but might you have something more recent then the Protastant Reformation. Now that would go a long way in proving your point.

Fact is Christianity has hated the Jews since the beginning. During the Crusades Jews were wholesale murdered on the way to kill the muslims. And even poets well into the renisannce despised the Jews.

This all ended mostly because of the Holocoust.

Jews have been the target of scorn and denigration for centuries. Primarily it is due to their display of separation from the rest of humanity and their self proclaimed status as the chosen people. This has allowed other groups to single them out with relative impunity as scapegoats. It continues today.
It is no different that the way native americans and aborgines have been scorned and treated. It is simply that the jews have refused to go quietly and have always been a vocal and troublesome lot.
Pograms occured for centuries, Hitler simply applied industrial techniques to the traditional pograms.
Incidentally, I am not antisemitic.

You must be completely unaware of what christianity is all about. They differ on almost all the areas. While christians today, love the jews, or should, like I do, back in the time of Jesus, many jewish leaders rejected him, and ultimately demanded his death. That is where the Augustine comment comes into play. You are really stretching here, but its just not even close to what reality and truth is. Even Jesus, the person christians follow, said, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do". We are to do the same. All that is old news. Now, we just feel bad they missed the messiah when he was here. That was not all jews, either.

Hitler was open and straight forth - he practiced what he preached.
Christians hold "love" and "forgiveness" among other virtues as the founding stones on which the "belief" rests but thought the history of its existence have practiced just the opposite.

sparkleso.........
Christians have started showing love to the jews because without their help the foothold in the Middle East will not be possible

If any christian leaders truly said the things you've posted, they were wrong. Here are more current Christian views on the Jews, I think you'll find a marked difference from ours and Hitler's:

CWNews reports on a two-day summit named Asia II, which was held in Seoul, South Korea, with almost 500 pastors from Korean churches in attendance, as well as Jewish political leaders from Jerusalem. The gathering was the second meeting held to foster better communication between the two faiths.

Two of the goals of the Korean Christian members of the National Assembly were to gain a greater understanding of what Israel is going through with the pullout in Gaza and the West Bank and to better understand a joint resolution, which would be declared.

By the end of the conference, the Koreans were in full support of the resolution that commits them to take a stronger stance in backing the Jewish state, as well as, promoting trade, tourism and also spiritual ties to Israel.

More summits are being planned in Asia for next year, and they may also be extended to South Africa and Europe.

Every believer is charged to make the Jews a priority in their value system and to render thanksgiving from their hearts for God’s work via them as a people. (Jack Hayford)

Deputy Mayor Yigal Amedi and Knesset Member (MK) Dr. Yuri Shtern joined religious leaders in recognizing nearly 100 Christians gathered at the Wall, for their dedication and support for the nation of Israel. Many of those recognized were also commissioned - under the sanctioning of the city of Jerusalem - as official "Watchmen on the Wall."

"These watchmen are a new breed of Christians," Robert Stearns said from the ceremonies in Jerusalem last week. "With the full weight of the government of the city of Jerusalem behind us, we are witnessing the fulfillment, in a new dimension, of ancient biblical prophecies."

This past Sunday was the International Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem and 100,000 churches worldwide joined together in intercession for the Holy Land.

A report by ANS states that "tens of millions" of people around the world "stood in the gap" on Sunday, praying in solidarity for Israel, on the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem (DPPJ).

Martain Luther was bipolar, and Hitler was psycho.

Hitler was influenced by Luther's writings of eliminating the Jews because they wouldn't even listen to the Gospel.
Most people don't know that these were Luther's rantings.

Views of things and what you do about your views are far different things .

Adolph Hitler and Stalin ACTED crimminally on their views. Between them they killed almost 20 million people.

Maybe you should also read God's views in the Old Testament for those who were sons of the kingdom according to the covenant but whose hearts were opposed to God. He includes them with the rest of the world who pretend they are not evil but are always angry at Him and those who are the true children of God..

How are those who oppose God different from one another?

Scary stuff, isn't it? Isn't it also strange that the history of every Nation, Religion, Race... all have murderers and crazed 'dictators' scattered throughout? This is why it's scary. We are all apt to kill each other until we are all dead.
