I have just started attending a methodist church. I am new and feel a litte in the dark. Do you have to be baptised to take communion? What is it? How is it done? When should one become baptised if it is not done at birth?

What is faith but fear of death. If there is one thing that all religions give, it is a continuation of life after death. What evidence is behind faith? What do we have that makes up believe but several centuries of good advertizng. We all just believe because it was written in a book. If that is true, then why does scientology lack behind other major religions? What is faith? What?!?!?!?

I keep hearing missionaries and preachers (mostly from Christian and Catholic denominations) saying that if you believe in anything else other than a single monotheistic being, God, then you are wrong, and any other form of religion that you practice (like Buddhism, Islam, Zoastrianism, Paganism, etc.) is false, and it's the work of the Devil trying to deceive you. Is this true? If it is, then I really need to convert to Catholicism, or Christianity before I really damn my soul forever, right?

well, John H, judy_r8, there is no physical proof. you're right, but there is alot of actual evidence that suggests that God is real. there was a fleeing from Egypt through the Red Sea, with a split in half rock. i went to Israel this year, and i got to touch the wheels and chains of the chariots in the sea. there are so much to tell, but ive had to rewrite this thrice! and luvnlvn, God does have emotions, for He expresses them greatly, but He doesn't have physical emotions, like fear and regret. candy_girl, i believe in God, no question. treepeople88, God doesn't really 'exist'. He's just there, we only use that word because we as humans cannot fathom no existing physicalness, we learn in physical, we are physical. but i know he is still alive because Israel has not yet fallen, yes, they are struggling, but are still there. this is actually a very fun subject to research on, there are tons of other places to read about on visits, so, look up stuff!

Jesus was born 500 years after Buddha's died.
Jesus' early life is largely unaccounted for. Could Jesus have traveled the popular silk road to the east and learned of the Buddha's teachings? Jesus' own teachings of Peace and Love are more in line with Buddhism than the Hebrew Law that Jesus learned in as a child.

If anyone should strike you with his hand, with a stick or a knife, abandon any desires and utter no evil words.
Majjhima Nakiaya 21:6
Words of Buddha

500 YEARS LATER...Jesus said:

If anyone strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also.
Luke 6:29
