Here, I think, ur assuming a bit too much. U think that the word "can" means "may I" and something akin to "do u have access."

Rember that "puedo" means to be able. Thus usking if I can use the interne is sorta asking. another stranger if u can use the internet. To walk-up to a stranger at an internet cafe and ask that person if u are able to use the internet is a bit strange.

This is just a silly question to shove in the face of someone that doesn't know you. CAN (puedo) you use the internet? Who knows? I know that u can but the person at a desk somewhere in any country has no idea. U shouldn't ask someone if u have the ability to use the internet cause they have no idea who u are and if u can use the internet or not. So, asking "Can I use the internet" is like asking "can I use Micorsorft Word" or something like that. They'll have no idea what ur talking about.

I hope u get the idea. Dont'd say that.

If ur at an internet cafe - u already know that they have internet access. Just ask what it costs to go on-line and u'll be OK. And yes, they the know the word on-line from Mexico to Argentina. This a world-wide network that we live in. Don't worry about anybody understanding "on-line."

So the answer to ur question is - Puedo usar el internet - is WRONG - Of course u can use the inernet. Just ask what it costs and don't worry if they know if u can use it or not.

If it's hard for you to get your point across in Spanish just say:

"Puedo usar la computadora?" -Can I use the computer?

...I don't think it matters what you are going to use it for but if you want to be exact then just say:

Quiero usar el Internet (not very polite) or what you just wrote:
Puedo usar el Internet?

If your pronunciation it's not very good they will have a hard time understanding. Another thing, you can always write it for them. Your written Spanish is very good and you have no grammar errors! Good luck!

Maybe if what you mean is if you can have access to that service, just say: "Puedo entrar a Internet?" the Spanish speaking people should be able to understand that YOU want to use the internet!!!
Good luck!

If you are asking at an internet cafe in a spanish speaking country that always got me by or try quiero usar. If you are on line they might think your asking if you know how maybe its your pronuciation.
