Yes. It's more personal.

I personally like them. I don't care how much money someone spends on me for Christmas, and particularly don't care if people don't get me anything at all. But I think something homemade is a lot more thoughtful than going out and buying a video game! I mean there's always an extent - like if my husband came home with a popsicle stick glued to a paper plate, I probably wouldn't be too thrilled lol. It's also the age group. Kids will never see the thoughtfulness in a homemade present (with the few exceptions).

They make better presents than store bought presents if you really put time and effort into them. The best homemade presents are those that the recipient can actually use.
If you work with wood, for instance, you can make someone a clock, a magazine rack, an end table, a picture frame, a chair, a lamp, a cutting board, a coffee table, etc. The possibilities are endless. It depends on your skills and what you have available to work with.

Yes and no- it depends on what you make and how well it's made. I make a lot of Christmas gifts- I usually make jewelry, sculpted dolls, I handmake my cards, ornaments, you name it. I try to make stuff that is both visually appealing and functional, taking into account the person's likes, hobbies, favorite colors, and whatnot.
I don't give away stuff made from a kit, because often the materials are cheap and flimsy. I make the effort to go out and buy quality beads, chain, etc. for my gifts. In the end, I usually end up spending a goodly sum on materials, then with the time and labor involved, it ends up being almost prohibitively expensive.

some people would not think it was a good present others would be delighted with a home made gift. i would say if you know the person whom you are giving the gift to then you know the answer to your question.Don't give a homemade gift to some one unless you are sure they would appreciate it

sure they do...they come from the heart. especially if it's something you know people really like. especially if it's food! I just finished baking up mini loaves of pumpkin bread that I have done for years. it's a really good recipe that my mom has had for ages. I know everyone likes it, and they actually look forward to it. when I was a kid and my mom stayed at home, she did a lot of crafts. we used to make ornaments to give as presents. most of our friends and family love giving each other ornaments at Christmas.

They are excellent presents. As it was said before, they're more personal and they show you took the time and the appreciation for doing something special addressed to the right person. They show how thoughtful you are when thinking of everyone and their tastes.

I love getting handmade gifts! It shows that someone cares about you enough to put their time into making something for you, rather than just spending money on you. :)
