Listen, you can be old earth and still be Christians, but some of you are starting to scare me. There is absolutely no way a global flood would be possible. A flood, however, centered in the only populated area of the world at the time, the middle east, would be very possible. And if you think about it from the perspective of Noah, who sailed for so long without finding land, it must have certainly looked like the flood was global.

The rock records disprove the possibility of a global flood. The sentiment could not possibly have formed the way it had if the flood was global. Plus, if the flood were global, it would have destroyed all trees and plants, along with animal life. This would leave Noah and all of the animals absoluetely nothing to eat when they reached land. It would be a baren wasteland.

There is a point of having faith, but also looking at interpretations and viewpoints of the authors of such stories.

Living in Sweden, I have a bit of a problem with relating to just why intelligent design is even something that gets discussed in the USA. It really seems ridiculous.

Yeah and while I'm at it.. just why do people accept that the court can order you to participate in faith-based programs (concerning addiction and so on)?

13:5. And that prophet or forger of dreams shall be slain: because he spoke to draw you away from the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you from the house of bondage: to make thee go out of the way, which the Lord thy God commanded thee: and thou shalt take away the evil out of the midst of thee.

Is it saying that anyone who tries to turn someone away from Christianity should be murdered?

Why did he want to exterminate Canaanites? It was not their fault that they happened to live in the promised land. They worshiped wrong gods? But so were 99% of earth population, and again, how was it their fault if he did not reveal himself to them?

It has been accurately pointed out that violence can arise from both religion (i.e., the Crusades and 9/11/01) and atheism (i.e., violent oppression from communist USSR and China).

The common elements of all of these phenomena are ideologies that carve reality to fit into their unyielding frames of reference. Both Communism and Religion develop a self-righteous justification for strong oppression of "non-believers." (The US war in Iraq was intended to "spread freedom," seemingly no matter how many Iraqis died in the process.)

Instead of religion, is blind adherence to an ideology the true problem of the 21st century? How are we to deal with ideologies that become more important than human beings? Is it the role of skepticism to raise questions whenever someone develops an unquestioning allegiance to ANY ideology, relgious or athestic?

Even if it is not towards your religion or culture, but towards others? I do, I think it's rude and inappropriate. Let people follow the religion they believe in, whats their' problem? And why should they have a problem with your culture? I think cultural diversity it what makes the world interesting. We all learn new things from one another.

Do you think The First Evil from the show 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' really exists? To me it seemed like an accurate representation of evil.

-Can't really harm, but it's always there.
-It's effectiveness is based on the envrionment around it. It can tempt, manipulate, entice- but the ultimate choice is almost always on the victim's hands.
-Can 'merge' with those who are soulless, giving them super-strength.

Buffy was such a smart show lol I thought The First was a great villain where does Joss get his ideas man?
