i actually had this problem with my friends... they were convinced that being a christian was the only right religion, but what ppl dont' understand is that that's just the way we were brought up, it doesn't nesessarily mean we're right. the only reason why people make not-so-nice comments on other religions is because they just don't understand anything about it, all they know is their own and they believe they're right. it is rude and with some ppl you can tell them that it is, but other times, just show that you don't agree but dont' argue, cuz they can get pretty mean and it can ruin relationships. but as long as you know they're wrong, and that everyone is allowed to their opinion and religion, you have the high ground! hope this helped, smile and have a great day!! you have great insights, dont' lose that!

I do. The person who made the remark looks like an ignorant, backward jerk, and I feel as though they're spraying their vomit on me. It's disgusting for someone to treat others as inferior because they are different. My religion is global, so any comments against another culture is an attack on my brother. At the same time, I have a sense of humor, so some stereotypes used in comedy crack me up. For example, I saw Korean Texan comedian Henry Cho? imitate his Dad's accent, and it was hilarious!

Yes, I am offended. There is so much discrimination in the world, and so much misunderstanding or out-and-out ignorance. It even bothers me when people call Mexicans "Spanish" and so forth.

Even when people are trying to be well-meaning, it's not a good idea to make assumptions. For example, I give tours at a building open to the public, and I am one of the two people on my shift who speaks Spanish. The people who greet visitors at the door know that I speak Spanish and like to help me make use of my skills. Once not too long ago, when a couple came through the door, the greeter asked them if they wanted a tour in Spanish, and then she called me over. We started talking in Spanish, but I soon learned that they were from Israel, and Spanish is a foreign language for them like it is for me, so it didn't make much sense for us to speak in Spanish after all. I believe the greeter mistakenly thought these folks were Hispanic based on their appearance.

Yes, I do get offended because I have friends of very diverse backgrounds and when I hear a remark that disparages a group, I usually know someone who is a member of that group and defies that stereotype.

I think stereotypes are harmful but I understand why less intelligent people would resort to using them as a means of categorizing individuals they don't know. It's an easy, but inaccurate way, of lumping people into categories without regard for their individuality.

Yep I sure do. I work in a bar and every now and than the n word will fly and I kindly tell them I hate that work and really don't care to hear it again. If they say it again. I cut them off and dont serve them anymore. They get mad and leave but they always come back and apoligize. You will not hear that word in my bar when I'm working. People learn fast. Stick to what you believe in.

I don't get offended if the comment does not affect me; however, I feel uncomfortable when I'm talking to people who makes such comments, specially when they make racist comments or comments that seem to be hateful.
