I'm having trouble coming up with a reading of this passage in which getting a divorce was not a sin. Particularly where Jesus says "I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery" (Mat 19:9 KJV). Is there another way of looking at this line? Maybe an alternate translation where it says something different? Or do you believe that infidelity really is the only valid reason for divorce, and anyone who divorces because of "irreconcilable differences" or because "it just wasn't working out" is violating a commandment?

we would exchange gifts during birthdays and holidays. This person moved away and I continued to send gifts. This person hasn't given me any gifts for over a year, including for my graduation from university and my birthday. Should I stop sending gifts?

I don't want to be a jerk about it, but I feel weird about not giving a gift...I don't want to appear stingy. I do need to say that I feel kind of annoyed that my graduation was acknowledged, at least with a card or something. So how do you gracefull stop mutual gift exchange?

(what was was since the knights? ) 600 years.. give and take.. I have a ton of clothes that I would like to donate, normally I would take them to hospice or salvation army, where they are resold at a really low price. This time I would like to donate all of the nice clothes that don't fit my children anymore, but I would like them to go to someone who truly can't afford to by anything, including at thrift stores. Any ideas?

I have a friend and I think he might be gay. He usually acts a little feminen (sp) and he dresses soo nice everyday. Yes, I know that this doesnt mean hes gay but if you ever met him trust me you would think right off the bat he was gay. The only thing is that he continues to talk about girls, but one day I brought in a magazine and we sat there talking about the guys in the magazine and how hott or not we thoguht they were. What im wondering is if this is a phase a person goes through before admitting they are gay or what?? thanks so much guys!

How many kids do totally stupid things without thinking, knowing full well the consequences? We still let them off the hook.

I'm like a hundred trillion times less evolved than god. How am I supposed to know he really means it when he says "eternal damnation." Maybe he just says that to scare us, or to teach us a lesson, and ACTUALLY lets you out of hell after an hour of burning punishment.

I'd rather have a sinfully good time here on earth, and take the chance that god and jesus are imaginary, then if I'm wrong, I'll talk my way back into their good graces after I die. After all, I'm just a petulant little kid compared to their magnanamousness.

The other day, a CNN reporter called for putting Muslim Americans in concentration camps.

A few days before that, a radio reporter (as a joke) called for making Muslim Americans wear red crecent armbands so other Americans could identify them and discriminate against them.(just like Hitler did with German Jews - he made them wear gold stars so other Germans could identify them and discriminate against them)

The radio talk show host was deluged with calls from people who SUPPORTED his idea!!!

Do you agree with these hateful proposals?

Do you support nazi-like persecution of Muslim Americans - concentration camps, red crecent armbands, registration with the government, mass deportation (even of American born Muslims)?

When ever we're in public and the baby gets restless my wife breast feeds him. She does it discretely and if there is no where she can go like a bathroom she'll do it infront of people but she doesn't open up her shirt for the world to see or anything, but still people will be staring and some have even made a rude comments. I really don't get it, it's natural, what's the big problem. I'd like to know your thoughts on the topic?

Every fair society is a forgiving society. Any fair punishment serves a purpose. That purpose is mainly to educate the person on what he/she has done wrong, give society the time to forgive the person and after the punishment the person is offered a fresh start.

At least this is what the perfect punishment in a forgiving society should look like. The best punishment makes the 'sinner' a better person.

Hell is a punishment without a future, without a chance of forgiveness and without the ability to learn from what the person has done wrong. Therefor it's a useless punishment. It has no value.

So, how on earth can a forgiving God even invent such an unforgiving concept as Hell?
