How many kids do totally stupid things without thinking, knowing full well the consequences? We still let them off the hook.

I'm like a hundred trillion times less evolved than god. How am I supposed to know he really means it when he says "eternal damnation." Maybe he just says that to scare us, or to teach us a lesson, and ACTUALLY lets you out of hell after an hour of burning punishment.

I'd rather have a sinfully good time here on earth, and take the chance that god and jesus are imaginary, then if I'm wrong, I'll talk my way back into their good graces after I die. After all, I'm just a petulant little kid compared to their magnanamousness.

Excellent question. That's really the basis of Universalism, a Populist 18th-century religious movement which has since been subsumed by liberal Christianity in general - but the point is, they said that the idea of inifinite punishment for a finite transgression is absurd. Of course, this assumes that God really is loving and compassionate. If, on the other hand, he is vengeful and petty, then you may be in for a rough time in the afterlife.

I personally cant see how any all knowing, all seeing God can punish one of his children for an eternity.
If he forgives sins, he should forgive all of them because technicaly we are supposed to be all his creations. Usint that logic, then God himself in the design and implementaion of man on earth was a fault unto itself.
A perfect God would not intentionally make a race of people just so he could smite them if he truly loved them, he would be like any other father out there and love the faults and perfections of his prodigny.
Also remember though, if you know the difference between right and wrong and still choose wrong even the best parent will be angry and punishment of some sort will come.

Even though you are so "unevolved", God has given you the necessary knowledge to know what you need to do. And yet you prefer to have a sinfully BAD time here on earth.

Black Parade Billy: "Some Christians claim that god does not send us to hell. We "choose" hell. Excuse me?"

Yes, but all choices are made BEFORE death. It is appointed unto humans once to die and then the JUDGEMENT.

Then the Books will be open [the DVD's will be shown?] and you will be shown each time you chose to reject Salvation.

Well if you want to follow his philosophy with out believing in him is fine but meaning less if you still want to have a sinfully good time here on earth. So you could follow Jesus philosophy and be a pimp and you would be OK with that, again pointless
Now if you follow Jesus philosophy and live a more straight life then it would be worth it.

There is no way to "safely reject God". A murderer on trial in front of a judge is not going to hear "well you knew the consequences of murdering that person but I am just going to throw you in jail for a hour to teach you a lesson." Someone who murders someone is not expecting to get caught. That kind of philopshy will surely be anyone's final undoing. Just as the philosophy of "I am a good person and therefore should go to Heaven" is false. Both of those will be many's undoing, as predicted in the Bible....

It's your risk to take. If your completely wrong with your philosophy, I hope you're prepared for eternal damnation. But hey, maybe you will only get a slap on the wrist... And maybe there really is no God... Let's think about the risks we're taking here.

You question and details did a lot to point out the problems with society. We set consequences and then are not strong enough to follow through. We enable people to do things they should not. When society sets consequences for certain actions they should be enforced. In societies that do, they have fewer problems. In societies that do not enforce the consequences for actions, you get groups of people that feel the world owes them something just for being born. That they are special (maybe more special than anyone else....) Strange how true love is following through with set consequences....

I don't think God ever sentenced anyone to eternal damnation.

The assorted scriptures were written by MAN not God.

Since man is a finite being; the divine teaches them spiritual truths according to their level of awareness, and shazam; the scriptures are written at that person's level of awareness.

If you had two children a 2 year old and a 16 year old that asked "How does a car go?

You would tell the two year old something simple he could wrap his mind around. but the 16 year old you may explain the internal combustion engine, transmissions, drive shaft, etc.

You can destroy your soul and you never know when you are going to die why take the chance this is such a short life and the next is eternal, living your life as God intended it to be is not a bad thing try it you may like it.

It would be worse than a human roasting an amoeba for being a sinner.

Come on, does a human really give a flying rat’s butt what an amoeba does or how he has sex? People with such doctrines don’t have any imagination and they make their god in their own flawed image.
