Ive met my fair share of Americans when visiting relatives in America...from the people ive met... they are pretty dense when it comes down to it...

My husband is East Indian (born in the USA) and I am Mexican American. Our marriage is great, and we've been together for 10 years.
My mother-in-law, however, feels that the Indian culture is the only game in town. She continually refers to me as her son's "American" wife, even though he was raised here too! I've tried gently reminding her that my family emigrated from another country just like she did, but she skips over that part and insists that I'm white. I'm not white--how can I dispell her of that notion and remind her of the fact that I have an ethnic culture just like people from India do?
We've had some major misunderstandings which I feel come down to the fact that she is Indian and I am Latina--like oil and water. She blames everything on my being "American"--which is true, but many of my beliefs come from my hispanic upbringing. When will she respect and learn about my culture just like I've learned about hers?

I'm an attractive, social, intelligent guy with a good job. I love people and have no real problems socializing (at least, no more than others). That is, except in a bar full of strangers. Guys who have dated me and had taken the first step have told me they were intimidated to first ask me out because they thought: (a) I must already have a bf, or (b) I'd have most anyone I wanted. maybe this is a to familiar question but... do you think there's any difference between a girl... kissing a stranger at a party, having sex wit different guys, beeing flirty at all times, getting drunk at a party, to a guy doing the same things and more? why do we catagorize one as a hoe/slut, and another a pimp, a "cool guy" or even see it more as a normal thing... whats the morality?

This is just a general question. A friend put it to me that if someone asks you a question and if (1) they have no right to the information or (2) by refusing to answer them you are actually giving them the answer. He says if both are true, then it's OK to lie, to protect the information.

Example 1: Your boss has fired the last 3 people who he thinks might be gay, and then your boss asks you if you are gay. You know if you refuse to answer he will know the answer is yes. And in your state it is legal to fire someone just for being gay.

Example 2: Your father committed suicide, and your family would like that to remain private. But a distant cousin you are hanging out with says they heard a roumor that your dad committed suicide and asks you if it's true. If the answer is really "no" nobody would say "I don't want to talk about it", so if you say "I don't want to talk about it" you know your cousin will find out.

Please don't answer the examples, just talk generally.
