That's pretty deep. The sea monster is Leviathan. We do not know what it was.
Some older stories say that it was a mythical seven-headed monster that represented symbolically the power of Egypt. You will need to dig deep into some technical commentaries, but be careful-commentaries are not scripture, they are just what some people think (however educated).

imagery is borrowed from ancient Near Easter creation myths, in which the chaotic waters were depicted as a many-headed monster that the creator overcame, after He established world order. The poet weaves creation and salvation themes to celebrate the fact that the G-d of Israel is shown by His saving acts.
Blessings,
David

monster simply means huge creatures. A whale, for instance, is a monster. I believe there is such a thing as a giant squid ... there are other monstrosities in the sea. Ever been attacked by a shark?

This is speaking of sea "creatures" --they are titled monsters in the Bible- but they have many names today....such as sharks, and whales and other massive living things that are in the ocean.

Since you are studying Creation, I would say they were created on Day five with the other water creatures. Please clarify what you don't understand.

If my memory serves me right, the sea monsters attack Noah's ark.
Noah then slays them with a golden sword given to him by the Lady of the Lake. He calls it "Prometheus, Sword of Ages," and by pointing it at one of the cats on the ark, Noah can turn him into a ferocious battle-cat named Lion-O.
