My friend recently passed away in a car crash, god rest his soul, and in the obituary it said there will be calling hours on one day and a memorial service with a reception to follow the next day. (the burial service is private). I have never been to a funeral or anythin so could someone explain what goes on at both of these events?..and also what would be appropraite to wear to both? (for a girl)

The husband I have made a token effort, but our rental is older and has no exterior outlets... Still we're happy to have done something.

I was listening to this song 3 minutes ago and something just made me feel sorry/guilty for not believing in god. Does this mean I'm turning into a believer....again? I really don't want this to happen, I still want to be an atheist, but why would I feel like that?

I figure they could easily call christians non-believers in truth. But then I guess you would get into an argument about what truth is. The thing is I wouldn't consider Atheist non-believer as they believe there is no higher power. And Agnostics believe the question of religion is un-knowable. Of course there are variations on these beliefs. Anyway what are your thoughts on this? Thanks.

There was a time when I'd regularly hear from anti-catholics that the Catholic Church is like Fort Knox and should sell all its Catherdals and church property and close its hospitals, missions, orphanages etc and give all its scared art, literature and archives away, yet today I see more and more multi-millionaire preachers building Mega-church buildings shouldn't they do what the Catholic critics recommend as well?

The thought came to me as I was trying to go to sleep. I had been looking at photos of my ancestors and relatives and I wondered how much of them was me. Is there something I am that they were not.? We all agree that we have secular government that’s not based on religious in the main time we are a country where freedom of religion is the constitution. Why some people making big deal out of it? Is it just because the Governor is black and some people still can’t get rid of segregation. Some white racists trying to find meaningless way to cause trouble to him or because in Government they are some evangelical extremists who don’t believe in other religions? Or are we explicitly not a secular Government but most of us don’t know?
