I live near the spot where a teenage schoolboy was killed by another teenage schoolboy using a knife he was carrying. Many students at the school still carry knives, although they are searched. Do you have any insight into how the practice of carrying a knife as a weapon can be discouraged. This is a serious question to which we in this community would like help in developing answer

I live with my mom, I smoke pot, she found out last yr & put me out the house, pulled me out of school, calld the cops, had me arrested got me on probation for a yr & sent me 4 drug treatment.. I got out of treatment, she let me come back home, I started planning 2 go back 2 school, I got a job (things were looking good) BUT THEN I smoked pot again, & she found out again & told me 2 get out of her home again.. So I found an apartment, my boyfnd said he'd move in 2 help, I was supposed 2 move this wk BUT my mum turns around & says that she wants me 2 stay so I can get more treatment & go back 2 school which she is willing 2 help pay 4 (ONCE I GET "BETTER"). Heres the other thing, my Dad lives & works in ZAIRE(africa) & I was thinking about just leaving & going to stay w/ him & hopefully get back in2 school next yr. My mum is also planning on moving 2 Africa (at the end of this yr) she wants me 2leave w/ her because of all this drama that now invloves the law.. I can't decide wat 2 do!!

I have posted many a random comment on this site, people seem to think I is retarded.Why does nobody else out there understand the fine art of randomness? Doesn't anyone else out there enjoy beeing random at random ? and making continous references to pie, the midjet rodeo,ninja grapefruits and the nubber four?.I does, and I is proud of beeing a randomist. How come some american words mean something different in the UK.

For example: In America, if they say I like your fanny, they actually mean your bum. If somebody said that to me over here, they would get a punch as we call fanny a woman's private parts. What do they use the word Bum for?? A down and out person I think????

Also, why call crisps Chips. Over here Chips are served as a part as a main meal.

Why call chocolate Candy. What do they mean then when speaking about Chocolate.

Anybody else come up with different meanings for words.... Would be interesting to compare.

Everyone who works at a meaningful job is providing a service to society. But it has always seemed to me that certain people provide a service without which our society would crumble and collapse. My friends and I frequently discuss this as a way of educating ourselves and also discovering the basis for what keeps modern America functioning.

Rather than picking just one, which is pretty much impossible, limit yourself to the three that matter most to keeping America (still) the place where most of the world's citizens would love to be!

i have read so many comments about the negative influence of rap and hip hop music on our society, what suprises me is that many of these people who post these comments make themselves look like intellectuals who have a sound understanding of society. intellectuals collect primary research and evidence and dont post narrow minded comments with a hope to receive answers from likeminded people. if you really want to find out, why not ask those questions directly to those people your most concerned with. once you've done so then you can post your answer. if your too scared to do so, then your FEAR of the other may be the answer as to why you find the rap culture so intimidating. truthful answers can only come from those people you hate and fear so much, and maybe you will understand how your ignorance and fear was the root cause of the problem. scoulding or marginalising people does not better you or them.

I am a Hindu and am anxiously waiting for Christmas. Wouldn't it be nice if everyone celebrated the Christmas spirit regardless of who we are, what we do?

Same goes with Eid of Muslims, Diwali and Holi of Hindus and other festivals....

I was at my b/f's dad's house and when we got to the car Christmas got brought up. I said that I thought he was flying to Houston to see his mom and he said "Shut Up". I was told by someone a long time ago that it is better to say "Be Quiet" or "Hush" not "Shut up" because it sounded disrespectful. When I told him that was why I was acting the way I was, he said that I shouldn't have opened my mouth. What do you think? Is it ok to say that to someone especially in front of people?

The more I read some of the answers of Muslims on this site the more I become interested in your religion. I come from a family of every christian/catholic denomination under the sun, spanning thousands of years. They always argue over every last bit of scripture, or over the properties of Jesus.
Do you have any websites I can go to to learn more about the religion of Islam. I have already downloaded the Quran, so I dont need that. Just any farther teachings of Islam would be nice. Thanks.
