I am doing a presentation of the Spiritual & Artisitc Importance of the Vatican in modern society. I have plnety about the art, but sturggling for sources about its spiritual significance. I have stuff like: It's the heart of the Catholic religion etc. But need more stuff!!
Facts/Figures on tourism/visitors etc would also be appreciated!

sure-
the average annual tourists that pass through vatican city in modern times is 500,000 people per year. Majority of tourists are muslim or protostant. this figure is up from 250,000, just 10 years ago. It reflects a dramatic increase in people that look at the Catholic faith as 'a great entertainment' with the ornate audacity of the scuptures and class system invoked to keep the 'bad people' out of heaven.

first of all - tourism has nothing to do with spirituality.

the vatican is basically the head of the organization - like any other denomination - they have a base/core of people who "work there".

jst like in business.... you can look at it this way:

CEO -- God the Father, God the Son & God the Holy Spirit

COO - the pope --

God is the head, the one the only. The pope is his minion on earth and he has people below him that do things similar to the orothodox Jews in the Yeshiva's -- they study, they learn and the investigate things. The people within the vatican are there to study and dispell myths.
