Help me out please..Christianity is broken down into many smaller denominations, right?. What are the major differences? For ex: Catholics believe in a pope, confession, anti-gay marriage, anti-birth control, etc. What do Methodist, Protestants, Presbyterians believe? I'm leaving the Catholic church, and want to find a new christian denomination, but don't know which suit me. Thanks. What is their stance on Baptising our baby?

I was going to got to Canada for my birthday but some of my friends can't get that day/night off from work so that will be postponed. So now it is just going to be me and two of my friends. I still want to make it fun and as my friend said the "best birthday ever!". Something unique and not outdone would be nice to hear.

Oh and one of my friends is still only 17 so even just a club not in Canada wouldn't work.

What is ``good´´ about it?
What purpose does it serve?
As a person disinclined to faith, do I even have the option of exploring it?
It seems that all I could do is pretend, which would not really be faith.

One of my best friends said that she cant talk to me because im an athiest. Am I wrong for being an athiest or is she wrong for being judgmental? I mean its not like I bashed Christianity or anything I just dont believe it. I explained this to her and she still wont speak to me. Should I still try to be her friend(cuz I miss her) or should I just forget her.

Canada is a close neighbour to the USA and despite that we are still screwed royally by your government. The forest industry and the sugar industry to name just two are really treated unfairly by the lobby groups that influence the laws that your government makes which affect the lives of countless numbers of people whose lives are directly affected by the those laws. If this is how you let your government affect your friends then can you blame the enemies that they have pissed off for years? Over the last 50 years the USA has turned from a good country to a hated country around the world. Where does the blame lie? ON the president, no, on the lobby groups that have affected the laws that the USA has used to deal financially with the oil, the forestry, the sugar, the arms dealers, the whatever lobby group who stands to benefit financially from trade dealings that make them rich while making others poor. This is why the USA has become a hated country that others want to destroy.

I'd like examples like..., 'MUSIC is in the middle of the musician and the instrument', or... 'the SUNRISE and the SUNSET is in the middle of night and day' etc... I have thought of this question for many years and would love to hear any new ideas, even just the single word for an answer. I think something in the middle is always what we think is beautiful? I am interested to know your opinion of why this would be too. And also if you are a Christian too! Thanks.

A high School teacher shared with the class that Gandhi actually protested the manner in which wheat was harvested. Gandhi allegedly claimed that the way farm workers swung sickles at the stalks inspired violence. I cannot find out the source for this information and my teacher has moved away with no contact information. It is important that this question be answered as it would drastically change my opinion of Gandhi if this is true. Thanks for all help.

If so, how do you worship a God who allows the rape of women in his name. There are countless verses in the bible where God ordered Moses to kill and plunder complete villages and take all the women they wanted as their own.

Here are a list of a number of bible passages that describe the kidnapping and rape of women in God's name.

If so then why do you find it so difficult to understand that others might have a different point-of-view?

If it makes you angry or upset to hear others disagree with you, why do think you react this way?

I don't know exactly when the Bible, Koran,Torah, Bhagavad Gita etc. were written. I don't know if anyone really does. But religious texts like that are usually very very old. They were written in a time that is very differnt than our own. People today don't live in the same way as people back then. Don't you think that makes religious texts sort of outdated as instructions manuals on how we ought to think, believe and behave?

"The matter is quite simple. The Bible is very easy to undestand. But we Christians are a bunch of scheming swindlers. We pretend to be unable to undestand it because we know very well that the minute we understand, we are obliged to act accordingly. Take any words in the New Testaments and forget everything except pledging yourself to act accordingly. My God, you will say,if I do that my whole life will be ruined. How would I ever get on in the world? Herein lies the real place of Christian scholarship. Christian scholarship is the Church's prodigious invention to defend itself agaisnt the Bible, to ensure that we can continue to be good Christians without the Bible coming too close. Oh, priceless scholarship, what would we do without you? Dreadful it is to fall into the hands of the living God. Yes, it is even dreaful to be alone with the New Testament."
