.... think that this is true? I know that secrets are kept in all aspects of religion. the movie gave me a warm fuzzy feel in that maybe, just maybe we have a new concept on an old story.

The problem with The DaVinci Code is that it is attempting to 'reorient' Christianity towards its original purpose, yet doing so in a way that ensures it will not. Jesus, although he loved Mary Magdelene, did not father any children with her because his purpose was to undermine the entire 'royalty' aspect of religious worship. He wanted to create a 'common-place' world, where a fisherman could have the exact same place, and value, as an emperor. Having offspring, especially his own, would only have complicated the teachings, because others would have said that the offspring of Jesus were 'more holy' than, say, a homeless person who converts. Jesus wanted to make a society where anyone/everyone could join, regardless of 'lineage'. Perpetuating the 'linneage' of Jesus serves only to undercut the universality of what he was attempting to do.

that is FICTION in holding with CONTROVERSY. the concept that Mary Magdalene married Jesus and bore his little ones isn't new contained in the least. there is connection with it in DOGMA (no human being had a in good structure then). the worship of Mary Magdalene isn't new both. in case you look up gnostic texts i'm confident you'll locate a good number of knowledge. what annoyed the catholic church replaced into the shown truth that the finest promoting e book replaced into made right into a blockbuster movie. the e book replaced into on the finest broking service's list for an rather lengthy time period, yet opportunities are severe in case you study the e book then there's a label that obviously states that that is a artwork of fiction. videos, besides the undeniable fact that, are enchanting and the final public may mistake it for a real-existence tale. because there are continually severe % chases and sophisticated puzzle fixing attempting to be foiled by albino monks in genuine existence. in short, everybody is stupid and the shown truth that the catholic church made an outcry about this movie and individuals went as far as to bodily protest that is exhibiting purely bought extra TICKETS... all publicity is solid publicity. in case you've been attracted to this variety of tale, i recommend you study 'yet another roadside charm' by tom robbins. it runs alongside an similar line. addition after I study different solutions: enable's attempt to be genuine about this. dan brown did not make up the thoery about jesus and mary magdelene. he purely used references from previous idea. all he did is placed a desirable tale around the idea. i do not trust that he got down to regulate minds or take advantage of thoughts for the purpose of something except the leisure of his readers... he's a novelist, it really is his interest.

Haven't bothered to see the film, but did read the book. A good yarn, weaving a little bit of fact, mixed with gibberish and rubbish. eg the Freemasons exist, (Rosicrucians don't), Opus Dei exists (don't think they have any albino assassins among them), The Templars did exist [see the Albigensian Crusades, Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Templars], and were outlawed by the Catholic church, resulting in the Spanish Inquisition. Jesuses family do not live in Scotland.
Good fun, and yes there are many old stories full of War, Religion, Romance and History, if you look for them.

While the book is a fiction book there are other books that deal with the same subject matter that are not fiction. Many aspects of the book have been researched for years before this book came out. However, fiction or not, Why are the churches so adamant on keeping this book out of their "flocks" hands? I think that is does open up the channels of communicaton and questions the so called history of our religious world.

Davinci code is a novel. That being said (and I do know you meant movie) there is historical evidence for SOME of the things that happened. For example, Mary Magdelene was not a prostitute. (Just for fun, try to find that in your Bible). Case in point, why would a mother (Mary) take a prostitute to annoint Jesus' body? Wouldn't that be disrespectful and invite criticism?

If you build enough fact behind fiction, anyone will believe you. People will not go and do their own research, just believe what they are told. There is enough fact to prove the story, the Templars, their sudden rise to power, and the fact that the Pope had them stripped of everything, including their lives, out of fear for something they had to hold power over the Pope.

A. Lincoln said, " you can fool some of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time. " there are some truths which are referred to however the book is FICTIONAL. therefore the movie will be FICTIONAL as well.

The book was even better... and who cares what anyone believes as a result of the film... it's all just a story, after all.

(By the way... your third sentense should be written "Are there people..." rather than "Is there people..."
