Faith is only really good for making people who have done wrong, feel right about it.
Simple is better.

You have asked several questions here.
1. Faith is perhaps "good" because it places us in the hands of a higher power- which brings comfort, strength, and cheer.
2. The "purpose" of faith is to place us in the hands of a higher power outside of ourselves- that we might be empowered.
3. A person "disinclined" to faith is one ripe for embracing such- that is what is lacking and needed.

Many have found that faith helps one to attain goals, even to heal.
Some psychologists and philosophers have figured out that faith can supply the energy and missing elements in the solving of seemingly insurmountable problems.
Bob Dylan has a song, "It takes a whole bus load of faith."
There is a theory in psychology and medical science that faith unlocks chemicals in the brain which assist in more efficient cognitive and heuristic functions.

depends on what u mean by faith. if u'r talking religious faith i'd have to say forget about it, but i'm biased.
i have great faith in the universe tho, which operates on natural law.
i agree with the other guy. simple IS better, it works better. u try too hard, u just stress urself out and u miss the good stuff when it does come around.

Though it defines a sense of community, doesnt it also provoke segrigation on some levels? I am just asking because I can see some here that are angry at the world and others who are actually loving and seem very sincere people.

I guess faith has the purpose of allowing a person to believe in something that they cannot fully understand, define, see or prove to be a reality by a physical means of proof.
We all have faith that our car will start, but from inside the house....just because you have your shoes on and your keys in your hand....you can't prove that your car will definitely start, but you believe it will.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Without faith it is impossible to please God. You already have faith. The Word of God says that God has given each man a measure of faith. You do exercise you. You may not want to admit it but I am sure you do.

Faith is trust for you don't have trust, you will not have faith.
Faith is belief for if you don't believe, then you can not have faith.
faith has to come from ones heart, Faith is knowing something is going to hap pend even when no- one Else believe it
There is no pretending if one has true faith,
Jesus Loves you
