Most of the Germans speak English. And it's so similar to English that sooner or later it'll most likely be absorbed by the latter.

.....like waving one hand all over the place when talking, blinking/rolling of eyes none-stop, and this thing some girls do, like when they are having an argument or something, they make this movement of the neck and waving their hand....("talk to the hand coz the face ain't listening") and stupid stuff like that. I know i'm a girl but for some reason i can't do that kind of stuff, it just annoys me.

Many religious congregations spend only a small portion of their income on charity, all the while spending the lion's share on agrandizing their buildings & facilities and paying staff members.

Other non-profits must apply for and justify their tax-exempt status, but religious congregations are granted tax-exempt status by default.

Why should the government subsidize religions via automatic tax exemptions?

god sleeps in the rocks,
dreams in the trees,
stirs in the animals,
and wakes in man.

I heard this the other day and I was interested in hearing what others thought about it - what does it mean to you?

See how the world rejoices when another pastor falls. My heart is aching for him and his family.
I don't rejoice when a sinner dies and when a sinner is down and out.
That is the difference between a saved person and an hateful person.
Yes Ted Haggard did the right thing by stepping down, but come on now, how would you like it if all your dirty laundry was out for the world to see?
Temptation is all around us and the battle is getting more intense, pray for the leaders of your churches that they too won't subcome to such evil.

I was invited to a surprise b-day party at a restaurant being thrown for one of my bosses. The party is being thrown by the boss' sister. All of the food and drink is getting paid for by the sister and her family. Is it appropriate for me to bring a gift for my boss? What kind of gift is appropriate? I do not want to seem like I am trying to bribe my boss or be a "brown-nose" to my other co-workers if they don't bring gifts. I don't know if other co-workers are bringing presents or not. I already bought a card, though. Is that enough? The party is tonight and it is too late to go buy a group gift from everyone.

She is really sweet but she must be stressed big time. She cannont leave a dish in the rack. If I wash my dinner dishes and leave them to drain when I go back they are all put away.

She adjusts the couch covers in the lounge just...so - and she never uses that room!

If I go into the bathroom after her all the shampoo, shower gel and cleanser bottles are exactly lined up - an inch apart. This happens EVERY time.

I am not complaining about her and she never gets upset - but do we add to her stress by not drying our dishes straight away or by not lining up the bathroom products neatly, thereby making her OCD even worse?

I've just never been able to take things on faith alone, or even with faith as the primary reason. It seems to me that believing something to be true on faith is a justification for irrationality. And believing things to be true without referring to logic and evidence seems to me like a detachment from reality, and is a symptom of psychological disorders that often involve delusional thinking (Paranoid Schizophrenia or Erotomania for instance). I don't mean to say that religious people are crazy. I personally know many of them to be very sane, intelligent and highly functional members of society. But I just don't understand how one can have faith as the underpinning for their belief system and be OK with it.

I have grown up with lots of people telling me about the 10 second rule, if you drop food on the floor...you can eat it after picking it up before 10 seconds because thats how long germs take to cover it.
