I've just never been able to take things on faith alone, or even with faith as the primary reason. It seems to me that believing something to be true on faith is a justification for irrationality. And believing things to be true without referring to logic and evidence seems to me like a detachment from reality, and is a symptom of psychological disorders that often involve delusional thinking (Paranoid Schizophrenia or Erotomania for instance). I don't mean to say that religious people are crazy. I personally know many of them to be very sane, intelligent and highly functional members of society. But I just don't understand how one can have faith as the underpinning for their belief system and be OK with it.

Having faith allows people to believe in something fantastic and beyond their reach. It gives them a feeling of power and belonging to something greater than themselves. Instead of wondering the what, when and how of our existence, faith gives people the opportunity to find the missing pieces of the puzzle. As for me I don't need to find out where I came from or where I'm going, whats important is the here and now.

Well said ... Infact, the scriptures agrees with this pointed, when it says: “Of what benefit is it, my brothers, if a certain one says he has faith but he does not have works? That faith cannot save him, can it?”—Jas. 2:14.

WHEN we speak of faith we think of one’s belief in God. The apostle Paul, in describing faith to Hebrew Christians, said: “Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld.” (Heb. 11:1)
An assured expectation has something backing it up. It conveys the idea that this expectation is guaranteed, that there will be a future possession. Some suggest that faith is like a title deed of things hoped for. Faith can also involve fidelity to one’s promises or allegiance to duty. One who has faith in Jehovah God and in his Son, Christ Jesus, would want to show loyalty, acting in full harmony with Jehovah’s ways and advocating them to others.—Ps. 145:10, 11.

I think you are a little confused about what faith is. So many people think it is a "blind" faith, that a Christian has no reason or basis on which to stand. Not so. I have studied the bible for a decade and have found it proven true in my own life, and reflected in the world around me. Those who seek God find Him. Those who deny God will be denied by Him. It's really a matter of personal choice; God will never turn away anyone who truly wants to know the answer to the question, is Jesus really the son of God who died on a cross and rose again....can He really save me from my sins.

But you have to choose, to seek God.....or not.

All things are based on faith. You sit in a chair, you aren't concerned about falling because you have faith that it will support you. When you travel, you place your faith on the car you are in. If you believe in evolution you place your faith in the assumptions of men and thier untestable ideas. If you believe in the big bang theory you place your faith in physicist who only have hypothetical models based on what they want to believe. In our lives all that we believe is based on faith. As for me, I think it takes less faith to believe something so complex as our universe was created by intelligence than a mathmatical annomolly.

Faith comes from hearing & hearing a (true) Word about Christ / God.

I feel comfortable when I hear the Word of God because of the Holy Spirit of Comfort confirms truth in my born of God spirit.

Meditate on truth, lovelness, good reports, positive promises of God, etc. and the God of peace, that passes understanding, will keep your heart & mind in Christ Jesus.

The times that I get out of the comfort zone is when I doubt God. I can quickly get very miserable. Until I repent & pray to God, "OK God, You are who you say you are. You love me & will never leave or forsake me, and no one can steal me away from your love.".

For without faith it is impossible to please God, for those that come to Him must believe that He Is, and is a rewarder to those who diligently seek Him.

So to re-answer simply: I am uncomfortable when I don't have faith in God.

He has delivered me from much in my life. Faith is my comfort zone.

Having faith in their beliefs doesn't require for them to defend them with sense and evidence. They are free to not think and believe in whatever strikes their fancy without question.

Faith is one of those things that make absolutely no sense before you have it. And it makes ALL the sense once you do.
