Would you follow the ten second rule in a restaurant? I guess it depends on how hungry you are to decide whether or not you want to try and eat food off of a floor. If it was at my mother-in-laws who is ocd with cleaning you could follow a two hour rule there, although I am sure she would have "cleaned it up" before then.

Evidently my dogs know about this 10 second rule; because if food hits the floor, they get there and eat it before you can count to 10.

Cancer has nothing to do with cleanliness, but I believe asthma does. I never worry about germs, just the actual dirt that can be on a floor. There are people whose floors I would eat off of. Not mine though.

I think the condition of the floor may have more affect then how many seconds the food is on it

i only believe in it if the area i dropped it on was clean and the food was dry because i was watching myth busters and they did this but wet foods picked up the germs right away.

It all depends on whose floor you drop it on. If the floor is clean like your own, then why not? If your at a party at someones house, then no way, if you got "caught" your rep is down the crapper. Use your own discretion.
