Ten Thousand Angels
Words and Music by Ray Overholt
Matthew 26:53
"Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father,
and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?"

They bound the hands of Jesus in the garden where He prayed;
They led Him thro' the streets in shame.
They spat upon the Savior so pure and free from sin;
They said, "Crucify Him; He's to blame."

Refrain
He could have called ten thousand angels
To destroy the world and set Him free.
He could have called ten thousand angels,
But He died alone, for you and me.

I am troubled that this might be a selfish act. I get a better product at the expense of someone else. If everyone acted this way, wouldn't it corrupt the system?

Imagine a line which flows each way, to infinity. Imagine there is a break in the centre of this line. As a man or a woman, you are one side or the other of this space.
The true meaning of the tantra is to close this gap, and know yourself fully in mind, body and soul. This is your potential.
Can you see this?

I always hear people say that we believe because we are scared into it. I don't think I've ever been scared of God. I am not scared of going to hell either. I have just seen too many things not to believe.

I'm tired of living

I used to maximize my potential, and now my zeal and determination has dwindled as I am faced with one failure after the next.

I'm ready to go (as in DIE), but I have no wish to kill myself (ironic, I know) BUT if God could take me now, I wouldnt mind it because I've lost my vision and I no longer wish to try anymore.
and I certainly cant see my purpose of being here on this earth.

The failures in my life have been my own personal fault, not God's

i'm a christian and a wiccan at the same time, :) confused? it's because the bible was altared, in the bible's before king james it said: thou shalt not suffer a poisoner to live.

not witch wich means that the old test. doesnt have anything against witches, infact back then (in old test. times) the priests were shown to use witchcraft as a religious practice, but along the way they did it less (people thought it made them gods, they started getting worshipers) and then christ came and said not to use magick anymore (most likley for that reason) so it isnt going against god "if you know how to use it the right way" use it the way god would have wanted you to.

and no i never had the thought of burning myself at the stake :)

didn't people ever hear of "if you can't say something nice, don't say something at all" People come on hear to receive sincere answers to their questions not to be chastized by judgemental people. Have heart and don't judge. Just my 2 cents anyway!

The Church has encouraged prayer for the dead from the earliest times as an act of Christian charity. "If we had no care for the dead," Augustine noted, "we would not be in the habit of praying for them." Yet pre-Christian rites for the deceased kept such a strong hold on the superstitious imagination that a liturgical commemoration was not observed until the early Middle Ages, when monastic communities began to mark an annual day of prayer for the departed members.
In the middle of the 11th century, St. Odilo, abbot of Cluny (France), decreed that all Cluniac monasteries offer special prayers and sing the Office for the Dead on November 2, the day after the feast of All Saints. The custom spread from Cluny and was finally adopted throughout the Roman Church.

The theological underpinning of the feast is the acknowledgment of human frailty. Since few people achieve perfection in this life but, rather, go to the grave still scarred with traces of sinfulness, some period of purification seems necessary before a soul comes face-to-face with God. The Council of Trent affirmed this purgatory state and insisted that the prayers of the living can speed the process of purification.

Superstition still clung to the observance. Medieval popular belief held that the souls in purgatory could appear on this day in the form of witches, toads or will-o’-the-wisps. Graveside food offerings supposedly eased the rest of the dead.

Observances of a more religious nature have survived. These include public processions or private visits to cemeteries and decorating graves with flowers and lights. This feast is observed with great fervor in Mexico.

True story, happened this holloween. They were having a party at the offices where my mom works. So, my mom and I went, and we were having a good time. A lot of people took off parts of their costumes because they were getting hot, and most of us ladies left em in the bathrooms. When I went to get my costume and my moms, I opened the door and the Janitor was holding a few of em and kinda smelling em, I grabbed what I went for and left. Should I tell anyone, or just laugh about it?

Many on this site refer to evolution like it's math. They are as certain of it as 2+2=4. Most don't understand the troubles with evolution.

Go research topics like the Cambian Explosion and irreducibly complex systems in micro-biology. When you read them, don't just read half way through the rebuttle, decide it's over your head but it sounds like someone smart wrote it so just accept it as a resolved issue.

Many agree with Chris Mooney when he sasy evolution is "not just a bedrock of modern science but one of the greatest intellectual achievements of human history."

Do you see how this attitude can lead to a type of group-think amoung all scientist? Scientists aren't gods. They have their own interests and biases.

Do a little research for yourself.

If God is the creator and God created all and anything that we claim to have created was only created because God gave us the tools and all that jazz then isn't it his fault?

Is that like saying, "Hey, I just created the atomic bomb all that Nagasaki stuff was all your fault"?

His name is Adam, he has a blood problem, can't make blood cells, I have prayed so much and asked so many people to pray.

He is still not healed. Why would Jesus make me wait.

What else can I do. Doctors don't know whats wrong.

Why would Jesus let this happen to one of his people.

Quote

“We must not make purgatory into a flaming concentration camp on the brink of hell—or even a ‘hell for a short time.’ It is blasphemous to think of it as a place where a petty God exacts the last pound—or ounce—of flesh.... St. Catherine of Genoa, a mystic of the 15th century, wrote that the ‘fire’ of purgatory is God’s love ‘burning’ the soul so that, at last, the soul is wholly aflame. It is the pain of wanting to be made totally worthy of One who is seen as infinitely lovable, the pain of desire for union that is now absolutely assured, but not yet fully tasted” (Leonard Foley, O.F.M., Believing in Jesus).
