Ten Thousand Angels
Words and Music by Ray Overholt
Matthew 26:53
"Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father,
and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?"

They bound the hands of Jesus in the garden where He prayed;
They led Him thro' the streets in shame.
They spat upon the Savior so pure and free from sin;
They said, "Crucify Him; He's to blame."

Refrain
He could have called ten thousand angels
To destroy the world and set Him free.
He could have called ten thousand angels,
But He died alone, for you and me.

The song goes on to say.....

Upon His precious head they placed a crown of thorns;
They laughed and said, "Behold the King!"
They struck Him and they cursed Him and mocked His holy name
All alone He suffered everything.

Refrain

When they nailed Him to the cross, His mother stood nearby,
He said, "Woman, behold thy son!"
He cried, "I thirst for water," but they gave Him none to drink.
Then the sinful work of man was done.

Refrain

To the howling mob He yielded; He did not for mercy cry.
The cross of shame He took alone.
And when He cried, "It's finished," He gave Himself to die;
Salvation's wondrous plan was done.

Refrain

To the howling mob He yielded; He did not for mercy cry.
The cross of shame He took alone.
And when He cried, "It's finished," He gave Himself to die;
Salvation's wondrous plan was done.

San Ann

We DO serve a mighty God.

He could have called for angels then, and he can call direct angels this very moment to destroy those that reject Him. But, he is a merciful God.

Peace sister

Marcus,

Thank you.

Though He was weak; yet He is strong.

Hebrews 9:28 "So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation."

2 Cor.5:21 "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."

1 Peter 2:24 "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed."

Peace brother

Yeah... He could have. Then I would get what I deserve. Instead, I can only accept the gift offered.

Thank you, Jesus, for paying my fine so that I may be with you.

Yes, but that would have made him the anti-love rather than the savior.

yes, so we don't need to feel its up to us to fight for HIm since He can more than take care of HImself. Like Peter who Jesus had to settled down when he felt it was his job to defend Jesus. We are not to be ashamed and prepared with an answer not go out and fight***************************
edit: ;please excuse my rude answer: I only saw part of your question on my computer the 1st time and assumed this was one of those christians are violent questions. I have the up most respect for your postings. I always enjoy them
