I always hear people say that we believe because we are scared into it. I don't think I've ever been scared of God. I am not scared of going to hell either. I have just seen too many things not to believe.

Christianity is Based on fear.

If you found out that heaven and hell were basically the same but in heaven you had to worship God, but in hell you could leave free of religion but without eternal torment what would be the reason to go the way of God? Nothing.

Fear of hell is the reason people go to God. It might be deep inside you, but you know it's true.

Seen too many things huh...like what? Rivers, mountains? Honey, there are well proven explanations for those things lol.

Maybe I would be a believer if Jesus himself came and kicked me in the ***....but...hes dead so I wouldent worry about it.

Read up on some of Sigmunds Frueds work. He was the pioneer who claimed that religion exists because of peoples fear of death. People go to religion because they feel something in thier life is empty...either that or they were just born into it and were force fed religion. Either way, I feel sorry for you.

To a certain degree, all believers should have a balanced sense of fear for the Lord.

Psalms tell us
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
And btw, you SHOULD be afraid of going to hell.

Jehovah God is a God of love, of jealousy, and of judgment.

When my parents were raising us, they never taught us to *fear* God. It was always Love they taught. I do understand what you're talking about. Hell I don't beleive in either and in fact, it was made up by Christians in order to keep beleivers in line. Sad isn't it? I'd rather Love God and treat people kindly than fear. Blessings, my dear one.

We don't need to fear God but we do need to respect Him. I believe in God because I love Him.

I am Christian because I have felt the love of my Savior for me, not because I'm afraid. Although I'm sure there are some Christians who are truly afraid of God because they've been threatened with hell...... sadly enough.

I don't respect a God who makes me kiss his boot. What kind of a supreme being does that!
