I’ve been best friends w/this girl for 15 yrs. She moved in ‘97, and though we kept in touch, we have rarely seen each other since. 2 yrs or so ago, I realized I was in love w/her. But since I hardly saw her & didn’t even get to talk to her that often, it was easier for me to kind of push the thoughts of her to the side for the most part.

She’s 100% straight. She knows I’m gay, and is totally cool with it. She’s told me in the past that if she were gay she’d definitely date me. She also told me that if I ever fell in love with her that she’d go crazy, but that she’d never diss me.

Now she has moved back to the area to live w/her boyfriend (whom she’s due to have a baby with in a couple months). I know I should be happy to have her back, but I’ve found myself avoiding her cause I know that if I start hanging out with her again, my feelings for her will continue to grow. And since there’s no hope of us being together, I’ll just be hurt, and be reminded of that pain every time I see or talk to her. What should I do?

Do I keep my mouth shut and go ahead and pretend everything’s all right at the expense of my feelings? Do I tell her what’s going on, and risk making things awkward between us? How should I deal w/this situation?

Having only been raised in America, I sometimes hear British people talking about American accents. I can't possibly comprehend what an American "accent" sounds like, since to me American English has no accent. (I realize that there are separate dialects depending on what part of the U.S. people are from, like the Midwest or Southeast or North or wherever). I recognize British accents, where words are clipped and vowels are longer, or an Australian one, where words are longer and vowels are clipped, but what precisely defines an American accent? Do we have completely different sounds for different letters? Are we drawing the vowels out longer or shorter? What do we sound like to British or Australian people?

There are good and bad mitvvot, or rules that we follow to make ourselves better human beings. If all Jews, and perhaps all people of the world adhered to the good mitzvot, and abstained from the bad ones, do you believe that we could indeed 'bring' Heaven here to Earth?

We Muslims believe in One God, we also believe that God sent messengers to human beings so that they may be guided. Our prophets are Abraham (peace be upon him), Moses (peace be upon him), Solomon (peace be upon him), Isaac (peace be upon him), Ishmael (peace be upon him), Jesus (peace be upon him) and many others.

We believe that Jesus (peace be upon him) was a prophet and not son of God. We believe in his miraculous birth (without a father), we also believe that he is the christ, we believe in his second coming.

We do refer to God as the Father, but in Spiritual sense only. Holy Spirit in Islam refers to Angel Gabriel.
