Why do black people usually not tip, or at least tip well, at restaurants?

I'm not racist, I'm a waiter who never gets tips from them. An observation doesn't make me racist you idiots.

And then this bastard prick starts telling me to give them a better wage??? I'm a freakin waiter, I don't determine these black people's wages.

Maybe you're working in the wrong part of town.
Or perhaps there's a difference in service; the way blacks are treated in a restaurant vs. everyone else?

I'm half Black and your question doesn't offend me, nor do I think you're a racist, but are you giving your customers the best service you can give? If so, I'm sad to say that some people are just stingy no matter what level of service they receive. But what do you consider a good tip? A lot of people can't afford shelling out an extra 10 or 15 dollars after paying for a meal that was almost $50 or more. I always tip a minimum of $5. The people I've dealt with were always happy with that amount, but it may not be that much for you. I can relate to your situation, because working at my first job at a Domino's Pizza, there were many drivers complaining that our Black customers weren't tipping that much or at all -- but have I worked at every Domino's Pizza that delivered to Black people? No, I've only worked at one, so I can't make that judgement. You might see a change if you were working somewhere else. My dad doesn't like tipping in restaurants, but I think that's only because he knows my mom and I will cover the tips. ^_^

Well for one I'd just like to say your an idiot. Secondly, it depends what kind of service you give them. If i feel someone is being rude I won't give them a tip and actually I wait until they come pick up the check and have a talk with them and the manager about there behavior and on ways to improve it. Judging by your question maybe you secretly despise black people thus subconsciously giving them bad service?

Not all blacks stiff. What we need is for all of the stiffs to speak up and tell us why. Because a white guy would only be guessing. Black people that DO tip are going to be defensive, and they are only guessing.

But if you want my guess its ignorance and selfishness.

Ignore all these idiots that assume you are giving lousy service to blacks, and that you deserve to get stiffed. These people don't know what its like to serve 15 - 25 tables, and notice that almost every white person tips and almost every black stiffs. Day after day. They want you to be intellectually dishonest with yourself and ignore ever seeing such a pattern. And then they want to turn it around and make it look like you're the bad guy for getting stiffed.

I'd have to agree with La Belle... I find it very hard to believe that just "blacks" do not tip you and when they do it is not a good tip.. maybe you just give them lousy service and you just don't want to admit that to yourself!!! Ever think of that..I am sure they sense your vibe especially if you already are thinking in your head that you aren't going to get anything from them because they are black...regardless if you say it or not..it shows! Try treating and serving them the same way you serve your none black guest.. (when you have some at the same time) and see if you get a better tip....Better customer service may get you better tips..

Maybe they don't like you! Maybe you're a lousy waiter, or maybe they didn't feel like it!! You're gonna tell me that the only people that don't tip you are black people? If you said yes, I'd call you a liar.

People in general can feel when they're not getting the best service, maybe it's something you have to work on. Believe it or not it is racist to just single out blacks who don't tip well, and just because you expect not to be tipped well you get what you ask for.

Tipping is a load of rubbish. If you want better service go to a better establishment is what I think. Anyway it's not just the race of person your serving any person can usually sense you have a problem with them just by your body language or no eye contact when talking to them and tone of voice if you try changing yourself you may improve your customer service increasing your tips.

Maybe you're working around a town that consist of the ignorant type of black person. I am black and so are my parents, when we go we tip well... giving credit when the credit is due

I think people from India , Latinos and Asians r as bad , and i tell you this I am Latina but i am also a waitress so this has nothing to do with" just blacks" , heck I never tipped 15% til' i became a waitress myself!!! FYI the two times that a party walked out on me leaving me to pay for their meal well lets just say they were 'WHITE"
