If you have,how was it?

2006-10-15 05:08:18 · 2 answers · asked by I give you the Glory Father ! 6 in Religion & Spirituality

Why is it that I, being a christian, have to tolerate those who think I deserve to die but I have to be tolerant of them. This is nation once founded as a nation under God. Freedom of religion is now freedom from the religion it was founded under. Why is it that i have to listen to the islam faith but if i mentioned God's name im persecuted. Babies die everyday from the hands of unremorseful scientists but they claim its not really a person yet. Why,me being a young female, are we telling the world to control the males of our nation because they cause the pregnacies when the girls are the ones dressing in obsenene ways. Boys are programed that way and my sex is making it worse for those who wish to wait. I am not so severe on my sex but why is it that women feel they need to be better then man. We were made to be mans helper, not meaning abused, slaves, or servants, but the man is to lead. Why is it that my generneration is getting more stupid. Save me, that i have 2 live on this earth

I have a very serious question here, yesterday was the Jewish holiday of Simcha Torah, and this was the first time since Yom Kippur that I went to synagogue. Nothing major was happening, just a bunch of people reading short selections from the Torah, and all of a sudden I had a very strange feeling, as if all my senses were suddenly slightly numbed. This started last night, and I can only really describe it as being high, where you're willing to do crazy things (I guess this feeling gives me less judgement too), but it also seems like I'm in a dream. This feeling has been bothering me since I feel like I can't concentrate on anything, except typing this question. I thought it was an out-of-body-experience, but after reading some questions on here, it's not at all what it is. I still feel it. Serious answers only please?
P.S. I've never been high, but I feel as if this is what it would be like.

The book you refer to is entitled The Islamic Invasion: Confronting the World’s Fastest Growing Religion. The author, Dr.Robert Morey, sees Islam as an invasion into North America and a threat to his religious heritage. Unfortunately, Dr.Morey has resorted to dishonest tactics in combatting Islam. To prove his contention that Allaah is not the God of Christians and Jews, he quoted from several books in such a dishonest fashion that the quotations say the opposite of what we find in those books.
Dr.Morey quoted from the Encyclopedia Britannica to support his case. But in fact the Encyclopedia says:

"Allaah is the standard Arabic word for "God" and is used by Arab Christians as well as by Muslims" (Britannica, 1990 Edition, vol.1, p.276).

Dr.Morey also quoted from H.A.R.Gibb to support his case. But Gibb actually says the opposite. In his book Mohammedanism, Gibb says on page 26 that both Muhammad and his opponents believed in "the existence of a supreme God Allaah." Gibb further explained this on pages 37-38. Dr.Morey should have checked his references more carefully before his book went into print.

Dr.Morey said that Alfred Guillaume agrees with him, and he refers to page 7 of Alfred Guillaume’s book entitled Islam. But here is what Alfred Guillaume actually says on page 7 of his book:

"In Arabia Allaah was known from Christian and Jewish sources as the one God, and there can be no doubt whatever that he was known to the pagan Arabs of Mecca as the supreme being." How could Dr.Morey Misquote like this?

Dr.Morey quoted from page 28 of a book by another non-Muslim writer Caesar Farah. But when we refer to that book we find that Dr.Morey gave only a partial quotation which leaves out the main discussion. The book actually says that the God who was called II by the Babylonians and El by the Israelites was called ilah, al-ilah, and eventually Allaah in Arabia. Farah, says further on page 31 that before Islam the pagans had already believed that Allaah is the supreme deity. Of course they had 360 idols, but, contrary to Dr.Morey’s assertion, Allaah was never one of the 360 idols. As Caesar Farah points out on page 56, the prophet Muhammad, on whom be peace, personally destroyed those idols.

Dr.Morey also quoted from William Montgomery Watt. But Watt says on page 26 of his book that the Arabic word Allaah is similar to the Greek term ho theos which we know is the way God is referred to in the New Testament.

Dr.Morey quoted from Kenneth Cragg’s book entitled The Call of the Minaret. However, on page 36 of Kenneth Cragg’s book we find the following: "Since both Christian and Muslim faiths believe in One supreme sovereign Creator-God, they are obviously referring when they speak of Him, under whatever terms, to the same Being."

Further on the same page, Cragg explains that the One whom the Muslims call Allaah is the same One whom the Christians call ‘the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.’ although the two faiths understand Him differently.

Dr.Morey should know that as a scholar he has the academic obligation to quote honestly. He should also know that as a follower of Jesus, on whom be peace, he has an obligation to speak the truth.

I gave my friend, who teaches preschool, a great idea for teaching language/words/vocabulary. She used it, loved it, and turned it into a company that we use to make money on our ideas. She didin't ask me but just told me after the fact that she had turned it in, and that she'd give me the money - she was just so excited about the idea, I guess, that she turned it in without asking me, who knows - anyways - she came to my store where we talked about splitting it because she had turned it in and changed it a little - laminating it and that's about it. We never discussed figures or anything then - but now the idea did earn us some money. And now we need to split it. How should we split it? If I had never told her, then she'd have no money - and I could have turned it in at my leisure later - but if she hadn't turned it in then I 'd have no money yet for it - but could have done it later myself. Anyways MY idea, HER slight modification - so who gets what? THANKS THANKS THANKS

I posted a question earlier which I've since deleted, but I've recently come out of the closet...I thought that being gay was just like....a hetwrosexual relationship except the partners of the same sex...love is love. But, I guess there are some customs/things that are commonplace in gay society that aren't as common with heterosexual couples. I wa just wondering if you guys could give me an insight, because I wasn't as aware of thsi before. So basically
What are courtship rules?
Anything that's offensive that shouldn't be done?
Just anything...to help me fit in more with gay society and get my skewed perception fixed.

Please do not bash me or say that there aren't any cutoms...I didn't thniok there were customs until I got some responses...

i used to (still do?) believe in God but the more I look at life I see only this. People can be disgustingly mean and lead great lives at the expense of someone else's suffering. what makes them succeed in this? their willpower, obviously. and then you have the religious people who are constantly struggling and so forth...so, from what I see, it's the willpower that helps you instead of...i don't like the way I think and I do want to believe but I can't ignore what i see.

i know my philosophy's not very deep but i want to hear your thoughts on this.

thanks

I will be handing out treat bags for Halloween and we don't get much kids to our house for trick or treating. So, I thought I could make a special treat for the few kids who do stop by.

I still love her and slept with her this weekend. She asked if I would be her new man birthday present which startled me. I love her and would do almost anything to win her heart again, but I'm not sure how I feel about that....She said she still love me and will never love another woman the way she love me...what should I do?

Do Muslims think there is an afterlife for non-Muslims (e.g Christians)? Do they think Christians go to heaven, hell or something else?

if you dont like any group put the group you dislike the most and give a reason why. I never met a North korean but them damn korean grocers in Manhatten are as rude if not ruder than any snobby New yorker! Iranians or should I say the ones I know are wierdos and very introverted but respectful and honest. And Jews are the rudest, most dishonest hypocritical penny pinching Ba$t@rds you never want to meet. All jews suck but those Hasidic zionist beenie wearing ones set all of mankind back 1000 years!
