A Christian or an athiest or anyone can do good deeds on earth. But a Better Deed you should do in your life is come to know Christ and live a Godly lifestyle. Christians don't steal, murder, or anything legal. If they did do that they did those things before they came to know the Lord.
Also There are men and woman that are in prison being saved even murders and rapests and child molesters and convicted felons. They go through a 6 month program to get thier life back in order and then live a Godly lifestyle without getting the death peneilty. Unless he or she is a bruital killer and needs to have the death penelity.

I think it would depend upon who's answering the question....Of course in 'man's' eyes it would be the atheist. But if you ask God, even an Atheist who does all of the biggest, greatest deeds still doesn't BELIEVE in Him; therefore it doesn't really matter! Christian or Atheist is not saved by their deeds, but by their Faith. I know that the Atheist would/should be rewarded here on earth, but the Christians believe our reward is in heaven....but that would be NO excuse for any Christian that did nothing to promote, or work for the Kingdom of God.....that is still very disappointing that the Christian did nothing!
Make any sense?

I think through your question you actually tried to say that if you do your own job then you don't need to be a believer of god. And you probably wanted to through a thought towards the strong belivers.
But in the mean time you have asked a serious question.
Problem is how do you define GOOD. People often consider some thing good what he/she thinks as good. But we don't have enough experience. e.g. say, a monk who rarely does the things a citizen of a developed country does can be as good as a professor. Since he is researching on spirituality. But I know 90% people doesn't know any thing of spiritual meditation and at the same time they will tell you that spirituality is all story!!
People are always best at there own work-
A hard working person,
as good as a monk who strongly believes in god,
as good as a true believer of jesus,
even if he/she is not hard working.
But yeah, if you are doing things which are only for the destruction of man kind, then no matter which religion you believe in, you are
BAD

definitely the atheist. i think the atheist has a better chance of getting into heaven too, than the christian who does not do good deeds.

I guess it really would depend on why they're doing 'the deed' ;-)
Personally, I would go with the atheist b/c when a Christian does do a good deed sincerely, they always ruin my feeling of gratitude by saying 'Thank God...'
Ugh! No, Thank YOU b/c you're the one who did it- Not your imaginary friend.

An atheist is better. Christians believe in God, but they commit the biggest and most heinous sin mankind can ever commit, that is, to associate partners with God.
Atheist, as he doesn't believe in God, so he can't associate partners with God. Yes, those atheists who say they are their own Gods do, but according to my knowledge, not all of them say so.
Secondly, an atheist is not stuck to a certain belief system, because he doubts all of them, he is seeking truth, and moving ahead, because he leads himselves in a certain direction. So there is a very high probability, that if there is a correct belief system among the ones existing today, then the atheist would finally end up in that one, because of their approach.
I am not saying that all of the atheist would, but I think because they gain more knowledge about things everyday, they are more likely to be direction to the right path than a christian who doesn't care to think.

I don't all ways do what is good but that's because I am a mortal (human being or alien from mars it dose not matter a mortal is a mortal), but I would say the Atheist because that indavidual all ways does good things. Morals are not the same as ethics, so with that said: what is moral is not all ways good, and what is ethical is not all ways righteous.

Christians cause hopefully down the road they will be convicted enough to stop what they are doing. They will go to Heavan regardless just not be rewarded however an atheist will never get to Heavan no matter what!

There is no such thing as a true born again Christian who doesn't do good deeds.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
