i mean, its not wrong. its not a choice. could you wake up one day and decide to be sexually attracted to your own sex. No! you could pretend. But saying that the bible says its wrong is stupid. Jesus didnt write the bible. I'm not even christian but i know that noone wrote down everything he said. and that where it says that its wrong isnt even spoken by him. anyone who says they CHOSE to be a lesbian is lying. you cant go either way. In this case you would be bisexual not a lesbian. same for gays.

I am interested in how this religion was founded, and in their astonishing claim that Jesus of Nazareth visited America.

Now I find that the Mormon religion was founded by a guy called Joseph Smith. An angel told him to dig up some golden plates which were in hieroglyphics so he couldn't read them. Fortunately the angel had thoughtfully provided some magic spectacles called the Urim and Thummim and when he looked through them he was able to translate the mystical plates, which sunbsequently disappeared again. The translation turned out to be the Book of Moroni.

This is indeed a fascinating tale, but then I know that many Christian fundamentalists place a literal interpretation on the bible so this must be a similar phenomenon.

Can anyone tell me that they truly, in their heart of hearts believe the story of Joseph Smith and the "Urim and Thummim "?

Hello. I was reading the bible and I am a Christian and do not believe that homosexuality is right. But, I was reading this verse and its kinda confusing.


After David had finished talking to Saul, Jonathon became one in spirit with David and he loved him as himself. From that day Saul kept David with him and did not let him return to his fathers house. And Jonathon made a covenant with David because he loved him as himself. Jonathon took off the robe that he was wearing and gave it to David, along with his tunic, and even his sword, his bow and his belt. 1 Samuel 18:1-4 NIV


Is this speaking of just a very good friendship, or possibly a homosexual relationship?

Ok. I know that you guys are probably pretty tired of seeing the costume questions posted, but I REALLY need your help. Everytime we, here in Los Angeles, have a major earthquake, the T.V. News always says at first that there are no injuries nor deaths. After hours have passed we start hearing more and more reports of injuries and deaths.

Right now the T.V.News is saying that there were no injuries nor deaths in Hawaii. Should I expect to hear of more an more reports of injury & death there too?

Is there anybody from Hawaii on here that can answer these questions?

These people are hurting so bad they want "out," and then you threaten them with eternal pain and suffering (which they are already enduring anyway) because you are "concerned for their souls." I don't see many Christian churches where suicide prevention and counseling is high on the list of mission work. It's like you tell these people they have no options, then you leave them alone there to suffer AND be afraid.

When you talk about "accepting Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior," what do you mean by that and why do you insist on using language that people are so familiar with and confused by that it has lost its power? For example, I think you really mean "accept our religion on the basis of what we believe about substitutionary atonement" when you talk about "accepting Christ as one's personal Lord and Savior." I don't think you're talking about simply looking to Jesus and his message of the Kingdom of God; I think you have a bunch of baggage you hang on it and then try to push it on people. Am I right?

preferance. I am a lesbian and now that i came out to her she has seem more flurty with me, some times shes the same as she allways is but then i catch her saying things like she had a sexual dream about me and stuff like she likes my body and that im beautiful. but then she cutts off and gos back to "friend" talk. Im starting to think she might whant to have more of a sexual friend relationship, but my question is should i confront her on this and if i do how? or should i let it be so it dosnt ruin our friendship of so so long and make it weird???

Here we all are squabbling over the petty niceties of our respective religions (or lack thereof). Meanwhile war, famine, disease and global warming rage on unabated.
I often put myself in the Creator's position (empathy you see), and I would not be well pleased with the mess we've made. Personally I doubt if any of us stand a cat's chance in hell of getting to heaven if there's a total holocaust or armageddon, whatever you'd like to call it. Time to do something positive- feed the starving, disarm and disempower the lunatic regimes, and start to live ecologically sustainable lives.
Meanwhile the famous four horsemen are looming on the horizon..and looking at their watches..so long and good luck!

I am a Christian. I am also accepting of those who choose to practice another faith. Some folks have told me that by doing this I am intern showing reasonble doubt in my own faith. I don't believe so, but they quote scriptures saying "thou can't serve two masters", etc.... Can this be so, It is not my choice to follow the Qu'ran, but I will not persecute one who does, nor the Torah, or any other faith. Does this make me a Hypocrite??
