i mean, its not wrong. its not a choice. could you wake up one day and decide to be sexually attracted to your own sex. No! you could pretend. But saying that the bible says its wrong is stupid. Jesus didnt write the bible. I'm not even christian but i know that noone wrote down everything he said. and that where it says that its wrong isnt even spoken by him. anyone who says they CHOSE to be a lesbian is lying. you cant go either way. In this case you would be bisexual not a lesbian. same for gays.

as far as choosing goes, choosign to be gay and choosing to act upon it are 2 DIFFERENT THINGS!!!!!!
NOONE can choose to be gay in my opinion. but people can choose to act upon it. i think if ur truly gay then u should act upon it. but u can marry a woman if ur a gay man but that doesnt make u straight. it menas ur pretending to be straight. once you divorce her and marry a man then you are openly gay.. you were gay the WHOLE time you just didnt tell anyone. nothing cna change the fact that ur gay, even if u pretend to be straight.

i thought i made this clear... i beleive it isnt a choice to actaully be gay.. have gay thoughts.
i am NOT talking about choosing to act upon gay feelings. i wish u guys werent so stupid (not all of you)
that is a different choice altogether.
being gay isnt a choice. being gay is a thing u were born with,. Choosing to act upon being gay is NOT WHAT THIS QUESTION IS ABOUT AT ALL!!!
QUIT TALKING ABOUT CHOOSING TO DO GAY THINGS...

People are very afraid of anything they feels threaten their way of life. who knows, maybe they have some tendencies that they are suppressing and over react to the acceptance of homosexuality.

I think alot of it has to do with the way they are raised. Not just by their parents, or extended family, but also what their friends say, especially in their impressionable youth. I agree with the fact that a person doesn't choose to be gay. I really believe a person is born gay. Although I am not gay, I believe it is sad that in this society a person has to pretend to be something they are not for fear of being ridiculed. And that goes for alot of things as well as being homosexual. I don't believe in same sex marriages, but I do believe that two people of the same sex, loving each other, and living together deserve the same rights as a married couple, such as insurance benifits, power of attorney, that sort of thing. I also find it very discomforting that good, honest, loving people have a difficult time adopting or becoming foster parents, simply because they are gay, when we sometimes put these children in dangerous enviroments with people, that have so called 'qualified' to be good parents or foster parents. There is a shortage in this world of loving homes for these children, and to rule someone out bases on his or her sexual preference is ludacris. A parent, or anyone else for that matter, does not 'teach' a child his or her sexual orientation. Anyone that believes that is an idiot! Well, I didn't start this to rant, but I guess I did. I will just close by stating that any Christian that has an intolerance to anyone based on sexual orientation is not a true Christian. And ANYONE that has this intolerance or hatred toward gay persons should watch the movie 'And The Band Played On'. It is the history of Aids in this country (which I do not believe is a gay disease), and anyone that can watch this movie and believe that 'gay people got what they deserved' is heartless. Sorry for the long rant. Good luck, and God bless you.

First of all, I did choose to be gay... based upon my preferences in smell/touch/etc. I object to being called a liar on this issue. The verdict on the elevated amount of progesterone in the womb during pregnancy being a factor in determining sexuality is still out actually. There are probably more factors than genetics/environment that can lead to one choosing a gay lifestyle. To say we can't help it.. is pretty foolish. There are many straight people who are occasionally attracted to someone not for what sex they are, but for who that person is..
Now, about the right wing knee jerk reactionary fundamentalists who's only argument against homosexuality being the bible.. it is what they are being taught. They (and their religions) fail to recognize that the bible is a set of metaphors designed to guide people out of their animal nature to a higher more spiritual cause. (I was once a Christian, but now follow the Tao)
I am not bi-sexual, I prefer women. This does not mean I do not appreciate the male form. (the smell is another matter and the basis for my decision to be a lesbian.) Nor does it mean that I might not one day find myself attracted to a male, although this is unlikely.. it does mean that I would not act upon any such attraction, based upon my decision.

I don't think people really need a reason to hate, they never have before. I can't really speak for anyone else but the way I understand it people don't really mean that other people choose to be gay, they mean they choose to act on their feelings. But hey I'm not judging. I see where you are coming from. I don't hate gay people nor do I encourage anyone else to do so. The bible says many things about how people should try to live their lives that these hateful people ignore everyday. Such as judge not lest ye be judged.

No one can come up with a logical reason because there isn't really one. Thats why people use the bible, they know that the thought of gays makes them uncomfortable, but rather than trying to find out why it makes them uncomfortable (their own insecurities usually) they just choose to hate it. People have always been known to hate what they do not understand.

Well i agree and disagree with you!Jesus didn't say anything against us,but i do believe in some cases you do choose!Alot of people marry and have kids and then choose to be with the same sex.Yes i understand some marry to try to fit in the social world! When i was in school i didn't like people like me-but later on my life changed alot even the way i dress-it's weird! But in school i would have argued with you about me being in a relationship with another woman! The bible says alot against our ways-but never did Jesus say anything-he is the one i would worry about!!!!!

I agree, for people to say it's a choice shows great ignorance on their part. A choice? It's genetic but those who choose not to educate themselves and stay closed minded live in an unrealistic world....I feel sorry for them.

It IS a choice.
I realized that I was attracted to the same sex.
Despite the norms of society, I CHOSE to act on it.
Therefore, I chose to be a lesbian.
It's simple logic, really.
The Bible does not need to be dragged into this.
You wouldn't understand, being straight and all.

Youre right, its not a choice to be gay:

The very fact that people use the bible to justify their attitude tells you there's no logic to it. Even religious people will use logic to justify their position if they can. Only when there is no logic to justify their position do they start quoting bible crap.
