To avoid confusion between the words spirit and soul the best definitions are:

Body - your physical self, of which the heart is part of. (a pile of flesh, which is dead without the spirit of life)

Soul - nephes in O.T., psyche in the N.T., personality (body and spirit combined, strictly earthbound)

Spirit - ruach in the O.T., pneuma in the N.T. Rach is the word fpr breath of life and also for the Holy Spirit. Man's spirit is that life giving principle. (heavenbound, given from God, originally destined to return to God)

People today use the word soul to usually mean the same thing as spirit, but in a bliblical context they are two different things.

Examples:
Pray for these souls who dwell here O Lord. (earthly)
Though his body is dead, his spirit shall live forever (heavenly)

Juliart was correct about the spirit but not the soul or heart.

Spirit=Eternal essence of your being.

Soul=State of being here on Earth (The Bible uses the same hebrew word for soul to describe animals as well as humans)

Heart=This is the state of being that defines who you are as a person, individuality, and your growth as a person and Christian, etc. For instance Jesus said that what makes a person evil comes from the heart but also people can have a good heart for God.

You are a Spirit and you Look just like your Body.

Your Soul is an Invisible Spiritual Super-Computer that helps you do things (math, remember, Imagine etc.), it works with your Brain and YOU, a Spirit, are suppose to tell Them what to do, not Them Lead you Around (like addictions).

You know what your Body is.

Your spirit is you with out your body, your soul is your spirit and body together. Your heart is the thoughts that make you who you are.

When you're born, you have a living heart, and a soul, but your spirit is dead until you accept the Christ as your savior. Then your spirit is reborn- hence the term "born again" If you're born once, you die twice (hell), if you're born twice, you have eternal life (heaven)

We are created in Gods image, a Trinity.

Spirit = the part of you that will live on in eternity (you decide where).

Soul = the part that makes you YOU, an individual.

body/heart = your physical body.

Soul and spirit are imaginary personifications of life... the heart pumps blood through all of your tissues to sustain this life.

soul -- right and wrong decision making part of us

sprit --- the emotional part of us

heart --- depends on how one is using it

P.S. - Icould be wrong but that I think is how they are divide; although I have not fully tested that division yet.
