I think that's kind of an unfair question. For many of us, Pope John Paul II was the only pope we've ever known. Pope Benedict is brand new. Ask me a gain when he's been there for 30 years.

I gotta laugh about the "intellectual" comment. Pope John Paul II was very often called "too intellectual" and someone things B16 is more?

The fundamental difference between the two men is love. When B16 was cardinal, he wrote about dogma. Fundamentals of faith. When JP2 was cardinal he wrote about love. Love of each other. Love of our neighbors. Love of sinners. Love of country without becoming "nationalist." Most folks are surprised to know that a Polish cardinal who wrote an entire book on marriage and how every married man is obligated to make sure his wife is pleased in bed - could ever become pope.

JP2 was way cooler. This new Pope doesnt seem to fit the role. Im not Catholic, but I remember when JP2 was on the news, it was for good things.

I was a fan of Pope C3PO, myself. OK seriously, Im Jewish, so I dont really care. However, John Paul was pragmatic as far as Xtians go, and I can respect that. Pope Eggs Benedict is a giant step back to the 14th century, and plus didnt he have nazi connections?

Not a Catholic, but John Paul was way better than Benedict. He tried to unite people, and he never said things that make me roll my eyes the way Benedict does.

I like Pope Benedict 16 because he is more of an intellectual. His writings are very philosophical with lots of references. I love his firm stance on the unchanging nature of Catholic dogma. I also like him because he's a cat lover.
