These people are hurting so bad they want "out," and then you threaten them with eternal pain and suffering (which they are already enduring anyway) because you are "concerned for their souls." I don't see many Christian churches where suicide prevention and counseling is high on the list of mission work. It's like you tell these people they have no options, then you leave them alone there to suffer AND be afraid.

Not all Christians are like that, but you're right, there should be more help and understanding than there is. If you aren't finding help where you are, keep looking until you find someone who is willing to help. Though some pastors are trained counselors, most are not prepared to offer the kind of help that a person needs who is considering suicide. However, there are support groups and Christian Counseling Services who can help.

I'm glad to see some people do see it the same way I do... Having lost someone at only 27 I despise the nasty attitude so many have in regard to such things. No it is not a pleasant thing and is never the answer, but there is no reason to be so cruel towards the victims of this and more harmful then helpful towards potential victims. And it also only further hurts those that are left behind and in enough pain already.

I think it's because this topic scares the crap out of them, and since they don't know how to deal with these feelings of fear, they put the responsibility back on the person who is suffering, saying unless they turn to Jesus they will spend a lifetime in hell. It is a lot easier for a person to throw a Bible in your face than to talk about suffering and pain. There ARE Christians out there who find suicide prevention a valid cause, but unfortunately they seem to be in the minority. I hope you find some peace and relief to whatever prompted your question.

And for those who talk about how suicide is such an "easy way out", or such a heinous crime, it is obvious that you yourself have never struggled with what it feels like to be in this amount of pain.

Once Saved Always Saved, remains the truest test of these types of issues (along with a robber being killed in the process of robbing, etc). Many denominations claim that if a person dies with unrepented sin, his salvation & everything that went with it, was all for naught. The Bible does not teach this.

Some people believe claims of suicidal thoughts are just attention getters. Those of us who know better, know that the underlying issues must be addressed if a person is to be delivered from that deep a depression.

Any pastor worth his weight in tithes will take immediate precausions to insure the well-being of a suicidal individual. Often that means involving the authorities. There is no excuse for not treating these individuals with love and compasion, if not sympathy.

Unfortunately that answer is as mystifying as the human condition itself. I can't help you with that. I can tell you that every city has a suicide help center and there is a national hotline for suicide prevention (phone book or call 911, please, if this is the reason for your question). You are not alone and counseling, with the right counselor, will help. There is no reason to be alone and afraid when you are all ready suffering.

christians shouldnt be cruel to anyone. If i had to deal with a suicidal person I would tell them that God loves them and they shouldnt kill themselves becuase the pain that they will endure in hell is so much worst than what they are dealing with here and if they would just let god into their life that Jesus will walk with them and help them with their problems and that life with God is so much more better than being alone and hurting all the time. He is so awesome.

and just because u know of some people or churches or christians who do that to people who are suicidal doesnt mean all of them do.........thats like me saying that i knew a sinner who worshiped satan...does that mean that all sinners worship satan.......NO........so its not fair to put people in catagories based on what u know from a few people.

I do not think that any true christian wants to be cruel to someone who is suicidal. But the truth is suicide is no answer, for the same spirit you die with continues on into the after life, unless it is a physical problem created by unbalanced chemicals in your brain. They are way better off to resolve their problems here on earth than to try to go for a easy way out, for that does not work. But may very well be even harder to deal with in the spirit world than here on earth.

If a suicidal person could take the time out to listen to a christian who wants to witness to them about Jesus, then they're not commiting suicide, they are listening which is a great big first step. I don't see christians as being cruel when they quote the bible to someone. They're just trying to prevent a lost soul from spending an eternity in Hell.

This is very sad if this is what is happening where u live. I have never personally dealt with suicidal people and not trying to upset u or nothing but I honestly don't think that we have that choice to take our own lives. This is up to God and those who are mentally sick and do take their own lives..........I think God has mercy on them simply because they didn't know any better. But to take ur own life because a boyfriend or girlfriend dumps u or u just think life sucks is not right and it's not ur choice and I do believe that those people would be seperated from God and go to hell. This is just my opinion.

Stop using sweeping generalizations. It is unfair and untrue. There are many, many ministries for all kinds of stuff. Alcohol abuse, post abortion counseling, marriage counseling, depression groups and much more. Not sure where you are looking but categorizing all Christians as uncaring is simply not true. People suffer because they do not ask for help and then they wonder why not one cares............
