I have seen people say that white children who get abducted or kidnapped get more media exposure than minorities. I have to disagree. I think it is a matter of class. If you are upper middle class then you tend to be more 'liked' by the media. Case in point, there was a 23 year old white girl who lived in the public assistance housing in my city and she was raped and murdered in her own home by two guys she knew. Her case got no media exposure and I never really heard much about it. That really pissed me off because I went to school with this girl and she had a two year old kid.
A whitewoman who's husband owned a bank and lived a few blocks from my mom, got her house broken into and was murdered and her car was stolen as were some of her jewelry. This was a high profile case because she was rich!
The reason that minority children do not get much media exposure when they are kidnapped is because they do not come from rich families. A white child with poor parents wouldn't either

Ep. 6:13
Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

And these are evil days indeed........

It seems to be an isolationist's definition, as we do not share neurons and neediness is essentially selfish, not selfless.

If Love does not involve selfless sharing, I have difficulty seeing the connectedness. It seems more contractual, impersonal, 'I'll give you what you want if you give me what I want' kind of thing. Romance becomes a con and "Love" seems pale and shallow.

I'm trying to understand why "neurons and neediness" can produce a different interpretation: a fulfilling Love.

My best friend in 6th grade was Jewish, his mother wore the most god awful wig that looked like something the cat brought up. I also used to live in a predominately Jewish neighborhood and its just something I noticed.

I'm very courteous and have great manners. I'm not too proud to pull out the chair for my man or open doors for him, as he does for me (sometimes). I rarely see anyone acting in a chivalrous manner anymore...when I do, I'm like "awwww, that's the sweetest thing I've ever seen!"

It seems the Muslims are mad at the pope for saying thar Muhammed taught evil ways. Well, it seems to me that blowing up anyone that isn't you is pretty evil. The pope just spoke the truth. Maybe he shouldn't have, but he should never apologize.

In fact, I want the Muslims to apologize for their brothers who have committed all of these terrorist acts. Some of you may be upset about this question, because for some reason people seem to like the "peace-loving" Muslims who blow everyone up to Catholics who never really seem to want to kill anyone.

Does anyone else think the Muslims should apologize?

I just read a book that is used to educate people from other parts of the world about American culture. The way the author was wording some of the "tips" was as if "what we do" is just outrageous to other countries (including Canada).

For instance, smiling. Here in the US we smile. Alot. Even at strangers and we expect them to do the same. It's a non-verbal way of saying, "Hello, I'm friendly. Are you?" That's actually strange to other countries.

Body odor. We don't like it. Now come on!! That has to be an international thing. But guess what...It's not. Some countries think we over emphasis the importance of personal hygiene. I've seen those guys at the corner store. He-he!

Women. At work, I wear a striped, casual button up shirt with slacks and heals. Although it is clearly a female's outfit, we All American Girls are deemed unfeminine for wearing it. And the work/family balancing act is shocking in some places. Why?

The book says the "world" thinks we're goofy. Are we?

Yesterday I introduced myself and said hello, 5 minutes later my post was removed.

However, someone answered another question I asked by calling me an idiot. His answer to my question is still there.

This is a pretty messed up site if it's a worse offense to be nice and say hello than it is to insult people.

every time I look on here theres always silly questions that have nothing to do with spiritual things. I'll admitt some of them are good, but most of them are just plain weird.

And what is up with all the hate towards different religions. Why can't people just respect what others believe in.
If you don't understand a religion just ask nicely what ever you would like to know.
Rather then bashing other peoples churches when you might not even understand what they believe in to begin with.

I never could understand why people do this stuff so please someone enlighten me.

I'm trying to find an affirmation of the value of our human existence from the point of Buddhism, but with it's philosophy of ending attachments, I'm having difficulty seeing it. When we get down to ascetism, are we not denying our own humanity and the good of being human?
