If he hadn't done what he did, the rest couldn't have followed, so was it God's will or the Devil's work?

excellent question. My take on that is that long before the event, it was prophesied that someone would betray Jesus at the appropriate time. Whether it was specifically Judas, or could have been someone else, we can only speculate, but Judas did pay for this betrayal, as his guilt was so severe he committed suicide the next day. God only knows the judgment he will receive, it is probable that he repented and took his own life to try to make up for the hideous thing he had done..only God can decide his ultimate fate.

First it must be stated that Judas had a heart for himself, greed was what motivated him.

He had control of the finances within the group of apostles and Jesus.

Now, it was Gods will that Judas be the one that betrayed Jesus. The bible states that the devil wanted Peter. Jesus warned Peter that the devil wanted him. It was more of a warning to Peter to make sure his heart was set on Jesus and God and not to waver from that.

So, the devil had to settle on Judas, as this was the one God was going to allow him to enter and use to betray Jesus.

So, the devils work it was, but only by permission of God, as with all things then and now.

I believe Judas acted on his own insecurities or desires. He was apparently motivated by greed, because he asked, "What will you give me to betray him?"

It's possible the Devil tempted Judas, but the decision was Judas' own. Once Judas made that decision--actually, once he accepted the dipped bread Jesus handed him at the Last Supper--Satan entered into Judas, probably giving Judas the resolve and hardheartedness he needed to carry his plan through.

Of course, God knows everything, and God knew Judas would betray Jesus, and so it was prophesied. Had Judas chosen not to betray Jesus, perhaps the crucifixion, and subsequent resurrection, would have come about another way.

God already knew even before he created the earth that he would send his son Jesus to give his life for us. God allowed Judas to be used by the devil, it was Judas destiny to betray Jesus. People don't realize that everything that happens in this world God controls, it may not feel like it with all the things that's going on today but he controls it all, from the stock market to the government, even our everyday lives. God allows Satan to do certain things, Satan can't do anything without God's permission. I don't know why he did it but I'm soooo glad he did. I hope that I answered your question.

God had a plan of salvation, and that was for His son to give His life as a sacrifice for us. Interesting, the bible says that satan entered Judas right before Judas betrayed Jesus to the Jewish high counsel. Did satan not know that by having Judas do that, it would lead to satan's ultimate destruction? Because when Jesus died on the cross, He conquered sin and death. I find it ironic, beautifully so, that the one who hates us most, satan, actually enabled salvation to take place by prompting Judas to betray the one who would redeem us.

As the bible tells us, God does work ALL things for good.

Both! God uses people of all kinds to carry out His will! But at the same time Satan was the one decieving Judas!

if god=h
right=h
devil=g
left=g
then GOD IS THE DEVIL
and 1000 year seal on HIM is M(=IVI stitched together)
and SATAN, the devil ruled as a god was a bible quotation.
so God was My right hand, the Devil is My left. And that mother-fing devil tried to kill god. But the police and his whore saved HIM.
so yes God must be physically present to put that 1000 year seal on the Devil. thats GOD who equals GOD MOST HIGH who put that seal on the devil not GOD JEHOVAH. And yes i was kind of drunk and full of Bravoado that night. But i figure that word play is the funniest thing since sliced bread. So judas, jesus, jehovah all them ancient people were acting on false gods orders. the true god is true and pure and 1 and if you study Gods words and Mine you know who that is. And "evil one"=...=1 so i do pray for my enemies to get hurt now because that appearently want Me hurt, so yes God is in a WAR.

Judas expected a political leader to change the course of the current state of affairs. Instead he got a prophet that did not seem to understand the affairs of life. He was led by his zeal for change in societal mores.

On the Devil's. God just permitted it because he knew he could bring great good out of this bad. This is why we call it Good Friday.

Jesus' Will. Jesus asked him to take that role. He needed someone to turn him in, so he secretly asked Judas to do it.
