Yesterday I introduced myself and said hello, 5 minutes later my post was removed.

However, someone answered another question I asked by calling me an idiot. His answer to my question is still there.

This is a pretty messed up site if it's a worse offense to be nice and say hello than it is to insult people.

Did anyone even get the point I was making? Is it not a worse offense to insult someone than it is to be polite?

I agree, not fair but there are lots of rude people on Yahoo! answers. You have to just get used to it. Sorry. = (

I think you had to ask a question as this is that type of site and not just a blog or community- and the guy that called you an idiot- well I think he cut me off on the freeway the other day---many people seem to want to just write stupid things rather than read and answer questions- I don't know why they attempt to join in that way---so, HELLO! and Best of luck---

If you stood up in the middle of a piano recital and shouted hello to the player, you'd get kicked out, wouldn't you? Same premise here. Yes saying hello is polite, but it's not appropriate for the site we're on!

Morally, it is worse to call someone an idiot. This site is question and answer, however, I do not think it hurts to say hello, but I do not make the rules.

Sorry you are having some trouble here on YA. I noticed that some answers are filled with insults. I think this is because they are anonymous. It's easier to hurl insults, I think.

Maybe you did post something that wasn't quite "right." The replies could have been nicer. What's wrong with saying something politely?

I have to say sometimes my answers have been curt and "short." Poor spelling and grammar annoy me! :)

You are right, but complaining to the wrong people, you need to communicate with the Yahoo people, you will often get a violation notice without a good reason, but you get used to carrying on and leave the jumped up little tyrants to it.

I agree with you, although this site is basically structured around people asking and answering questions rather than chatting.

Follow the rules - even though you were being nice, maybe your post wasn't 'an answer' or 'a question'

Or maybe you ARE an idiot.....sorry couldn't resist.
