Fasting is not new to Islam; it is, indeed, as old as Adam(a.s) who was the first creature and the first Muslim to submit to one Allah. No one knows precisely when fasting began among Adam's progenies but it is the practice of all the Prophets of Allah and their followers. Qur'an mentions that Musa(a.s) fasted for 40 days (see 2:51) (this is what the Jews termed "Jewish Passover") and the Prophet(s.a.w) told us that Dawud(a.s) used to fast for half of the year (this involves fasting on every alternate day). 'Issa (a.s) (or Jesus) was also reported to have fasted for 40 days (this is what the christians termed "the Lent", usually observed before Easter festival). Since these Prophets were Muslims, it can be seen that by asking Muslims to fast, Allah intends to draw their attention to the practice and tradition of those pious predecessors who attained piety (in His sight) through fasting.

"O ye who believe, fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for people before you ..."

Your ideas are different than everyone elses. Your not accepted and don't belong to any culture, or any group of people. Your questions about the world only bothers those that you ask, so you have to learn on your own. Even your family is distant, and anyone who claimed where your friends, were only users not to be trusted. What do you do? How do you feel?

Salvation first-Isaiah 60&61 "He hath annointed me to preach the good news, to set the captive free." John 3 the new birth.

to love the creator-is the way to love His creation.

we can only care for another as much as we care for ourself-otherwise its selfishness-for our own gain-instead of His love to proclaim.

through out the 1800. european christians used the fact that the bible did not say anything about the native americans to justify slaughtering women and children. they surmized that since the bible never mentioned these people they must be the children of demons and not real people. since these red skinned devils where the spawn of satan and his demons, they felt it was not only justifiable to kill these great people but to steal their land.

can you think of any other instance when religion was used to justify genocide in the name of greed?

I'm interested in genuine answers from Muslim women (including prospective converts). No mischief-mongers please!

I want to know how you 'feel' about this cardinal principle of Islam. Don't you 'feel' it is incongruous in today's age?

Considering the fact that you're happily married and a situation has arisen which perfectly warrants a second marriage for your husband; what would be your reaction?

In case you're unmarried, how would you 'feel' if your would-be husband happens to be a strong advocate of Islamic polygamy?

I WANT TO KNOW THE TRUTH FROM YOU!!!
