We keep talking about help every other country and their problems, people ask how can they help those in those countries, but why aren't more Americans wanting to help people in our own USA. There are people in the USA that need just as much help as those overseas. (Not all those in need, get public assistance for more reasons than many realize) now I am not saying we should stop helping them, but we need to fix our own states and cities who have hunger, homeless, abused, sick, we have people who need their homes fixed, they may not need clean water systems to drink, but some need help keeping their water on. We have people who need help just to get around. We need to help those who cant help themselves. I’m doing my part by awareness and sending people to places that can help them in some way. But not everyone has such a person or way to find out.

If you have been a mentor in the past for big brothers and big sisters but was unable to complete your year for certain circumstances and are thinking about doing it again, do they have it on record that you tried to be a mentor in the past and why you quit?

I'm asking because of an incident that happened with my grandparents. They are old-fashioned baptists and my grandma always refuses to do laundry and stuff on sundays. I thought the bible said to "remember the lords day and keep it holy" what is so unholy about doing necessary things on the lords day? my grandparents have to move due to health and financial issues and my grandma is the biggest pack rat ever. so my mom has been working day and night to get the house ready. she set up a huge garage sale and put up 80 signs for it. on saturday, my grandma comes out and says the garage sale cannot happen on a sunday. why didnt she say so earlier? i dont know. but she got very uptight and rude about it, which i thought was pretty nasty considering everything my mother was doing for them. is it really so dishonoring to the lord to have a garage sale on a sunday, when it is something that really needs to be done? and isnt being rude and ungrateful just as "bad"? what do you think

Here's one:

During lunch, my brother overheard this conversation in his cafeteria between a Taiwanese foreign exchange student and a white chick.

The white chick was complaining about a minor zit problem she had.
Then the Taiwanese Dude was trying to find a traditional Chinese medicine explanation for the cause of her "problem".
He found the term "火气大"(Huo1 Qi4 Da4) ,
used for describing internal heat (too much "internal heat" can cause acne).
He meant to say "你身体的火气很大"(Ni3 Shen1 Ti3 De3 Huo3 Qi4 Hen3 Da4),
but the English translation came out as "Your body is very hot".
The white chick really does have a hot body (hot as in sexy).

Normally, I am the listener and I really take pride in being that way. Sometimes though, I would like to talk. Not necessarily about me, simply express my opinion or tell my story. When I talk to some people, the response I get is , "oh ya". "mmhm". They don't get involved with what I have to say. Sometimes they don't even acknowledge what I am saying. Perhaps sometimes I'm not interesting enough to listen to but it can't be every single time. How can we encourage people, particularly our children to listen to others and respect the fact that they aren't the only one who has something to say?

There were 300 greeks at the Thermopylae and they checked an Persian army of thousands for a very long time. They were told that when the persian archers fired their arrows, the very number blotted the sun... and they answered that they would then fight in the dark... Gandhi went on hunger strike many times to reconcile muslims and hindu in order to better control the independence of India from the British. Vercingetorix unified mamy Gaul tribes to resist the Roman invasion and was finally defeated in Alesia and brought in slavery. These people died for the sinners and for the others. They mattered enormously to the ones they meant to protect. Jesus´divinity was decided actually long before his death. About 400 years actually. So during 400 years, he was considered as good a sacrifice by his people as the people I mentioned. So I repeat: During these 400 years, what made his death more special?

I am very attracted to billboards. I don't know what it is, but I just love those big thick steel poles that hold up those sexy big boards.

Is this common or is there something wrong with me?

I get tired of getting responses by "Christians" who say things like,"This doesn't show the love of Christ" and such. I guess you never read the bible, Christ didn't walk around blubbering over non-believers, He called the Pharisee a bunch of vipers, accused them of having Satan for a father, and called Herod a "old fox". To us these may seem mild, but in those times these insults were intense. So you Candy Christians had better learn what "The Love of God" really means, it isn't handing out fuzzy bear statements to people who hate God and hate Christianity. The truth is the truth, dipping it in chocolate doesn't change the fact that it is still the truth.
