There were 300 greeks at the Thermopylae and they checked an Persian army of thousands for a very long time. They were told that when the persian archers fired their arrows, the very number blotted the sun... and they answered that they would then fight in the dark... Gandhi went on hunger strike many times to reconcile muslims and hindu in order to better control the independence of India from the British. Vercingetorix unified mamy Gaul tribes to resist the Roman invasion and was finally defeated in Alesia and brought in slavery. These people died for the sinners and for the others. They mattered enormously to the ones they meant to protect. Jesus´divinity was decided actually long before his death. About 400 years actually. So during 400 years, he was considered as good a sacrifice by his people as the people I mentioned. So I repeat: During these 400 years, what made his death more special?

simple it made it harder to question.
if something is divine it takes on a sacred attitude that is hard to question.
before Constantine their were several Christian groups that believed that Jesus was the Messiah but not divine.
once the Catholic church came into power these groups were crushed.

You are dead wrong about Jesus' divinity being determined 400 years after His death. Who gave you that information? Jesus divinity was discussed many times in the New Testament from when the Angel Gabriel came to Mary and told her that she was to bear in her womb the "Son of the Most High", to the many times that Jesus discussed it with the Apostles, especially when He asked them "Who do you say that I am?", and Peter answered You are the Messiah, the Son of God." and Jesus answered, "No man has revealed this to you, but my Father in Heaven has revealed this to you." The proof of Jesus' Divinity is written many times over by St. Paul and other epistle writers as well. You were closer to right when you first mentioned about Jesus divity being revealed 400 years "before" instead of "after"
christ death because some of the profits, especially Isaiah fortold of the coming of the Messiah and all that he would endure to save His people from their sins and about His divinity as well.
IF you were instead refering to the fact that the Bible did not come out until 400 years after Christ's death, then I will say that, that was just when the Bible was finished being compiled from the thousands of scriptures that had been written shortly after Christ's death, and THEN it was finally presented about 300 years later.
IF you got your mistaken information from a cult religion like the Mormons, then I rest my case because I probably can't convince you of the truth.

Although those you mention sacrificed themselves for what they believed in, and for others, they could not offer eternal life for mankind. What they did was wonderful and great, and they should certainly be honored for their sacrifice, it just doesn't compare to what Jesus' sacrifice meant for the world. Our time on this earth is short. I mean short even if you live to be 100. Eternity is...well eternity.

Wrong, Jesus's sacrifice was divine 6000 years before he died. He is the God in the OT. He is the son of God, and the otehrs you mention are not.

The deaths you mention were a means to an immediate end. The Jesus myth is a means to a continuing end.

Could you clarify how the matter of sin or atonement enters in these other stories, or are they just narratives of sacrifice, like our veterans?
