Every person I've met who believes in God were told about God first. Kind of like you don't know language until your are taught (no one is born knowing English). By the nature of God as I understand it, you should be able to achieve belief and faith without any influence. First, is my understanding correct? Second, has anyone ever believed in God without influence?

I don't want this to be a debate of existence. Also, don't bring up the fact that someone had to be the first to believe, since you could argue they were making it up.

Since people always say that ignorance is what causes bigotry and racism, if you are exposed to one culture, does it necessarely mean that you're going to be more tolerant?
Or does sometimes not knowing make you more open?

for me to hire only ex-convicts? i was once in prison and when i got out i got a degree and started a landscaping company. now i try to give others (ex-cons) a chance to rebuild their lives. i pay them a good wage so it's not about cheap labor. i have been criticized by some in my community for hireing these men and women. but i feel that if no one will hire them then they will become a threat to others again. so am i wrong. i have about 20 working for me now.

or is it simply the neural activity preparing the body for death?

The most common similarity of NDE's is the feeling of peace, tranquility, spirituality, and oneness with all. This occurrence has been discovered to be associated with the release of endorphins as well as reactions between the right and left superior parietal lobe. The right portion of this area of the brain is known to be responsible for the sense of physical space and body awareness. The left portion of the parietal lobe is responsible for the awareness of the self. During an NDE neural activity in these areas shuts down. The result of this is an inability for the mind to have distinction between the self and non-self. However, other aspects of the brain are still functioning and thoughts are occurring. These other thoughts are believed to be associated with the visions perceived.

so what do you think?

Now that I got you attention!

How many of the bible thumpers on here do you think live in a doublewide, watch Jerry Springer, chew tobacco and screw their sisters?

How many of them drive around in beat up Ford F-150s that has a gun rack on the back and a bunch of inbred dogs chilling out inside it?

These damn biblethumpers on here are giving rednecks a bad name.

Do you agree?

Discuss!

Should the long term (more than 6 months) unemployed who are fit to work be forced to do jobs that no-one else likes in exchange for their benefits?
Jobs would include things like sorting out rubbish for recycling or cleaning the streets of dog mess.
It would encourage them to start working to get better pay and conditions elsewhere.

21. O my people! Go into the holy land which Allah hath ordained for you. Turn not in flight, for surely ye turn back
as losers:
22. They said: O Moses! Lo! a giant people (dwell) therein, and lo! we go not in till they go forth from thence. When
they go forth, then we will enter (not till then).
23. Then outspake two of those who feared (their Lord, men) unto whom Allah had been gracious: Enter in upon them
by the gate, for if ye enter by it, lo! ye will be victorious. So put your trust (in Allah) if ye are indeed believers.
24. They said: O Moses! We will never enter (the land) while they are in it. So go thou and thy Lord and fight! We will
sit here.
25. He said: My Lord! I have control of none but myself and my brother, so distinguish between
