"Do non-Christians really believe they are original thinkers?"
As you can see from many answers here, most know that they've come up with thoughts on beliefs based on the thoughts and philosophies of others before them. Original thoughts are great but usually everything is inspired by the words/actions/ideas of others. We take in so much from so many sources that most original ideas are actually a jumble of things from many places.
Do Christians really believe they are original thinkers?

Original thinkers? You may think people dont believe in christianity because they want to be original thinkers, or because they 'made up' their own belief but that is not the case. When it comes to original thinking, christianity does not seem to encourage that either.
We just dont believe what christians have chosen to live for. Thats all. Leave it that way and stop trying to insult others. there's no use in that.

"Love Shepard" huh? Exactly what is the point of this question? I mean if I list off a string of patents and a Christian does the same, what's proved? We already know that both theists and atheists invent, so what are you getting at? I have a belief or idea that you ask trivial and pointless questions. I am quite sure that's not original to me.

Unless you grew up on an island, with no other humans or books, there really is no such thing as an original idea, because all ideas are sparked from information you already have and seek to proove or disprove.
There are many, many religions that are FAR older than Christianity, so how can Christians beleive that they are orginal thinkers, when the 10 commandments are all from other, older religions?

Christianity is just a lumping together of other, older religions. So if you think as a christian you are some kind of original-thinker, you're wrong.
My thoughts may not be original, and that doesn't bother me. My thoughts are my own and I don't really see the point of your question.

I'm not a Christian and I never claimed to be an original thinker. Everything I have learnt was from my parents, teachers and others around me. I was not as blessed as the ancient saints and rishis to absorb information directly from God into my head. Are you trying to say that Christians are original thinkers? If yes, then how come in the Bible it is mentioned that in the beginning was the word and the word was God? I'm not denying that. I believe it's true. Scientists have even stated that the first sound to come out of creation was Om. Hindus for billions of years, before Jesus came on earth, have known that the most true name for God is Om. The Bible also states that God created people in his own image and likeness. True again. That is also Hindu philosophy. That teaching was around long before Jesus was born. Hinduism teaches that the individual soul is Jeeva Atman and the Super Soul or God is the Param Atman. The Jeeva Atman is made of the same material as the Param Atman, just as a drop of water from the ocean has the same properties as water from the ocean itself. I'm not criticizing Christians or Jesus. Jesus was one of the greatest people to walk this earth. So were Prophet Mohammed and so were Shri Krishna. All I'm saying is that TRUTH is one. Religion was created by people. Knowledge we can learn from people. Wisdom or higher philosophy was gifted by God billions of years ago to the saints. This wisdom was passed on through the years to humanity. Some use this wisdom in different ways. Hence, different religions. All religions lead to one God just as different rivers lead to one ocean. As a final point, no one can come up with an idea by himself/herself. All things in this world are created by God. (Don't ask me if God created the devil. I don't believe in a devil, I believe in God.) Every thought we have in our minds are there because we willed it but it was God who made it happen. God is the Creator of all things. We can do nothing by ouselves. Without God, we would not even be alive. God bless you my Christian brother (No sarcasm. I mean it from the heart.) Yes, we are all brothers and sisters in spirit.

I think the same could be asked of Christians. This is a two way street here, we have our beliefs and you have yours. Both set of beliefs have been handed down for many years and some even pre-date Christianity. Instead of bickering, can't we all just get along?

Whoa there, big buddy! You didn't offer any of your own "originalities!"
Suppose I prove to you that I did genetic avian experiments that resulted in the "loud-farted grackle." What would be the point? More precisely, what's originality got to do with theology?
Some non-Christians like Einstein, to name just one of many non-Christian scientists, certainly did some original thinking, but it was in physics. His pseudo-deist takes on religious matters were downright dull.

Anything that has not been based on scriptures (revelations) or that has been produced through genuine curiosity, by questioning beliefs is by essence an original thought. Everything that you use today, from aspirin to microwave was produced out of curiosity, not by revelations. Does this answer fit your question? I´m not sure...
