How long will it be before the following happens?:

A Catholic teacher tells a class that the Catholic Church is the only One True Church.
A Methodist teacher makes the class pray for people to learn to accept gay people and let gays marry.
A Wiccan teacher teaches that there are two deities: God and Goddess.
A Baptist teacher tells the class that all Catholics are going to hell for following the False Prophet.
A Muslim teacher tells the class that the Bible is false, and they should read the Quran.
An Atheist teacher tells the class that Jesus is a myth, and it's not open to debate.

Note that we're not talking about a comparative religion class where all perspectives are taught openly and in an unbiased manner.
We're talking about a teacher expliclty promoting their religion as fact. It would happen, and I think everyone here knows it.

You cannot possibly believe that 200,000 school teachers, each with their own strong opinions, would be able to be unbiased.

I read in an answer to a question that muslims believe they have to kill at least one infidel to get to their heaven. I have never felt a need to bash muslims before but if this is true and there ingnorance causes innocent people to be killed then it is a whole different story.

I imagine you wearing glasses. You collect things. You’ve got a whole box of little elephants. When you see a happy elephant figure in a shop, you can’t help, and you have to buy it.

I don’t know why, but I think you are going to become a dancer. I think you go to dance class. You like ballet. And you’re defiantly good at running and swimming.

I think you are a competitive person. You always fight with your younger brother. You like winning. Sport or studying - you like to be first. But you prefer working in a team. Then, you win for your team and it makes you happy.

Your biggest passion are dinosaurs. You read about them a lot and even collect pictures of them. You like eggs for breakfast and you drink five glasses of milk every evening.

People say that I don't look like I'm 15-16. Most people think I'm 21 because I delevloped fast( my body and face)and my mom gets confused as my sister sometimes because she still has a young face at 41. I was reading a article about aging and the article was saying that Black women get less wrinkles and age slower. Is this true? I'm not trying to offend anyone, but I just want to know?

Smith (or derivatives) is known to b one of the most common surnames in european languages (i have few examples from non-eur ones, but if someone can make a contribution you're welcome). There we have:

Smidt in german
Lefebvre in French
Ferrari - italian
Herrero - Spanish
Ferreira - Portuguese
Ferrer - Catalan
Kuznetsov - russian
Kowalski/ Kowalczyk - polish
Smit - Dutch
Kovač/ Kovačić/ Kovačević - serbian,slovak,hungarian
Kalejs -Latvian
Sepp - Estonian
Lohar - Punjabi
Haddad - Arabic
now think of this. In the days of yore, when first surnames were coined, the earth would b no more abundant in smiths than now. There'd b 1 smith (or,ok,a family - father and sons) in a village, and only in big villages, and a few in towns. How did it ever become so wide-spread?Tho its also true that smiths were much esteemed by their fellow-citizen,being of great importance to community.
Or was smith equivalent to modern milkmen and postmen, father of all illegitimate kids?
anyone has any insight into this

I have a lot of trouble believing that god, in a time where communication was poor and people had a ever-important need to inlfuence people, sent his son to save the world from sin and a place that no1 has ever seen or knows exists or ever will know until after they die, 2000 years ago. I wanna play it safe so should I jump in front of a car or cause some sort of brain damage to myself so I can believe this? I have tried to believe but I really can't...

Carbon-14 is produced in the upper atmosphere by action of cosmic rays. Once the C 14 has been formed, by converting nitrogen-14 into carbon-14, it behaves like ordinary carbon-12, combining with oxygen to give carbon dioxide, and freely cycling through the cells of all plants and animals. Carbon-14 is used for a dating material because once it has been formed, C14 begins to decay radioactively back to nitrogen-14, at a rate of change that can be measured. As soon as an organism dies, the C14 atoms which decay are no longer replaced by new ones through respiration. Consequently, the ratio of C14 to C12 in that once-living organism decreases as time goes on. The problem with the carbon dating method is—scientists can not be sure of what the C14/C12 ratio was when the organism died. Carbon dating assumes that the ratio has remained constant; however, events, such as the industrial revolution, are known to have raised C12 levels. Other possible factors, such as the presence of a water canopy, would have lowered the amount of C14 in the pre-Flood world. Because pre-Flood specimens had so little carbon-14 in them, some might appear to have been decaying for tens of thousands of years. Also, the decay of the earth’s magnetic field would have direct effects on C14 level, again, giving artificially old ages the farther you go back in time. Finally, carbon dating has been shown untrustworthy with some present day aquatic specimens that were concluded to be thousands of years old. For example, the shells of living snails’ were carbon dated and showed that the snails had died 27,000 years ago. Other specimens have been carbon dated more than once, each time producing a different date varying by thousands of years. In overview, we see that the radiocarbon dating method is certainly no embarrassment to the Biblical creationist who believes in a young earth. In fact, when all data, such as the decay of the magnetic field and the canopy, is taken into accord, carbon dating seems to support a young earth.

Inspiration is everywhere in the world, and is constant if you are open to receive it. It's easy to turn away from such things and say that they are mere coincidences, or they have nothing to do with you. What do you do when you feel drained and uninspired? What is it that keeps you motivated? What speaks to you, calls out to you?
