We choose not to celebrate Chrismas, and I haven't celebreated it for 11 years this year. Why do we need to celebrate Jesus birth on only one day throughout the year? Why not celebrate it every day? Why celebrate it on a day that isn't His birthday? Why go into debt to buy gifts for people you hardly see and don't want to but you'll buy it because it's Christmas?

I'm not condemning anyone for your beliefs. Just wondering what you do and why.

Last night, in a particularly depressed self loathing moment, I insulted many innocent people in this forum by calling them twits. I wish I wasn't such a jerk. But sometimes I just am. God I hate myself.

Eventually, time travel is invented and the year of which thout is 2170. It is not as flexible to travel back and forth as one would think though...a very difficult practice that involves a lot of government denarii and equipment and it is not possible to travel back to the future or to leap ahead (The process is called Concentrated Time Infringment Sequence ). I really do not expect you peoples to believe my words, Though, strangely you all believe a person by the name of Jesus Christ a flavour of saviour from the far past. I can not prove or disprove this but I can say this is viewed as utterly ridiculous in the 21's and this along with other radical opinions will and already has brought on a lot of distaste in this paticularly age. I can say September this year will be a month brought on by this strange religous fanatical movement of the time...If you want to e-mail me on September 12 with questions feel free. I'm sorry but my mission is not to prevent.

Home come christians completely disregard the fact that Jesus was jewish? The pastor in church quotes out of the old testament all the time, but I don't notice him not eating pork, or keeping to many of the jewish laws quoted in the old testament that Jesus actually followed. Jesus was a practising jew, and it is qouted many times that he followed those traditions spoke about in the old testament.

My questions is, how come christianity has picked and choosed what it would like to follow? If you're going to be dedicated and believe in Jesus as lord, why not follow the rules he followed?

It very specifically states these rules in the old testament, but I don't notice those passages ever been mentioned in church. Just wonder what your thoughts on this are.

An observation that I've made that I'd like to share & see what you think:

Much of the acrimony seen here on YA! and in society when it comes to religion seems to stem from some people's inability or refusal to separate two things (1) what is factual knowledge, and (2) what they believe to be true.

Factual knowledge involves some statement that is verifiably correct and doesn't require a given philosophical or religious belief system in order to accept.
Belief involves something that people can't prove, but still accept as true. (issues of morality, ethics, philosophy, etc)

I think that a lot of our problems here come from some people failing to make this important distinction.

If you confound fact and belief, arrogance of one's beliefs results. We come to believe that we are 100% correct and everyone else is wrong.
But if we are clear about what we believe (rather than factually know), then tolerance and open discussion becomes easier.

What do you think?

All terrorist are not Muslim or from the middle east. Some are home grown from your school or neighborhood. We need to be able to recognize them before they kill others. We know that the Muslims want the whole world to convert to Islam and the home grown ones feel like people don't like them or something. An army can fight an army, but is a target for terrorist. Our best defense against terrorist is you.

David is the Son of God?

Matthew 27:46
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Mark 10:17-18
As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. "Good teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
"Why do you call me good (agathos)?" Jesus answered. "No one is good (agathos)—except God alone.
(that's mean he is not related to trinity or even God)

Deuteronomy 6:4
Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:

John 12:49
For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

Do christians believe in some verses and ignore others to fit their desire believe?

Today's my 24th year volunteering for the Telethon at my local TV station. MDA is a wonderful cause (my mom has Muscular Dystrophy). I was just wondering how many people out there are tuning in today.

(And for those who are pledging today, my deepest appreciation!)
