Crying is the physical manifestation of an emotion. Something touches your heart (whether positively or negatively) and this results in tears. Crying publicly (in many societies) is a social taboo hence your hesitancy. But tears are a human physical reaction, not expressly something that only females can do. Most women I know would rather die than cry publicly ( and men too) except in times of grief or at other times when society deems tears to be legitimate, as you can see throughout this post. Cry if you need to, but be strong enough to take the backlash and it will come from somebody, whether male or female. Just remember they only do this because it makes THEM feel uncomfortable and that it is no fault on your part.

My Man is a great cryer....
Nothing to be ashamed of - I think it shows a loving side.
We both weep at sad old movies. We both had a good cry at a friends wedding the other week. It's not a sign of weakness and I think more men should cry cos all that pent up emotion isn't good for you.....

It is always ok.
Fight those that seek to oppress your true feelings, especially those that would view expressive emotionality as weak or female.
You are a human and are blessed by the diversity of feelings that you can have. Go for it, have a good cry.
It's more good for you than you know. Tears contain large amounts of stress hormone so by crying you are actually making yourself feel better by releasing these hormones.

A man should be able to express his emotions the same as a woman. It doesn't make you less of a man because you experience something that has brought you to tears.
It's an old stereotype that if a man shows emotion that he's a wimp, gay or something equally silly.
It is healthy to express how you feel, whether it be through tears or laughter.
Be who you are and if someone doesn't like it, they aren't your friend anyway.
Cry on brother!

Will you cry when you get married, will you cry when your firstborn comes along, will you cry when you lose someone so close to you it hurts like hell, god I so hope you do because your just a lovely guy who is in touch with his emotions and you have nothing to be ashamed of for wanting to have a good old cry sometimes, I think it is one of the most beautiful things in the world to see a man cry, it shows he has a huge heart and isn't ashamed of showing it, never be ashamed of who you are or been caught out for it either.

I cried so hard three weeks ago when my Mom passed away. That's when I realized that life is short and you have to make the most of what you have. I was a Navy Seal for 12 years in the Intelligence and Surveillance. Crying is an expression of emotion......

I cried when both of my parents died, and when my little nephew was dianosed as autistic. When I was a young boy, I cried a few times when my older sister beat me up...LOL
I had a tear or two the other day when I watched an old home movie of a big family get together from my High school graduation in 1970.
